It all looks almost like the staged drama by Cisco. Why can’t they be more responsible and mature about announcing and conducting layoffs? We have lives, families, bills to pay, plans.

Whomever suggested 6-8k and 7500 you win the low low prize of being right
And I am sure others got a retention bonus. The IC's can be canned at anytime.
Why would Cisco give them a $2K "welcome bonus" and then turn around and immediately LR them and give them a big severance package. The Splunkers are, for the most part, safe to 2-3 yrs depending on who you listen to.
In my experience, when companies are bought out and merged, the employees being acquired are safe for the 1st 2 yrs. Then the redundancies are gone, whether it's from the acquiring or the acquired company, and then downsizing cuts start to happen.
I am not sure how it works, but mostly all Sales folks are booked for GSX and confirmed to travel. Will they be notified tomorrow?
Sales overlay (TSA, PSS, Services Rep),CSE's ,CX Middle management (Sr managers and above), VPs, large portion of SEM and SED
In the bay area, this time will impact minimum 3k employees this time. Finally the headcount in the US will be less than 10k and less than 1k in the bay area.
"Dont forget we also took on 8k people from Splunk and they cant be fired for a while…" ---- Simply not the case. The C suite of that org is signed on for a certain amount of time. And I am sure others got a retention bonus. The IC's can be canned at anytime.

$800M-$1.2B restructuring. Equates to 4,000-6,000 HC
Layoffs are going to cause pain in anyway they are done - last year October or so when my team had cuts, it was not expected and not accounced. ELT said it was part of what was planned in the previous fy that is fy23 and this time it got leaked. It’s part of cisco culture now nothing else needs to be said
The AMA session was telling
Seems like overlays will be cut
Perhaps this points to channel
SAM and PAM seems a replication of effort
VSAM and Meraki as above
now account executives and AMs
7500, mostly sales and middle management.
Low level HR leaked 10K-15K this round to my RM who was not part of preparing his team's list and knows he is gone
The market loves a good layoff so there tends to be an initial big “splash” and once the positive juice is squeezed in stock price the actual layoffs tend to be lower. For example eliminating vacant positions, etc. are counted. Sadly, employees are the pawns in these games and it takes a huge toll on people’s lives.
