Thread regarding 3M layoffs

RTO

I thought I saw a post stating BB is going to mandate RTO but I do not see it now. I work in Legal and was hired just after the pandemic ended. I live out of state and work from home. Many other lawyers are also out of state. I know senior legal leadership does not like WFH. If we have to RTO it will be a challenge for many, especially those with children in school.

Does anyone know what is going on with RTO?

@janice. How rude and ignorant. A lawyer asks a question based on what he/she heard and follows up on if it’s a credible fact or a rumor. That’s called due diligence.

@ Janine - you must be one of the toxic 3M managers people mention on this site. At a minimum, you must be a bully. There is no reason to be so nasty, especially when many of us on this site are dealing with the challenges of being laid off. Just be kind.

Wow, you must be one bad attorney with that level of ignorance. You thought you saw… just wow! And we wonder why we have so many lawsuits! Which state are you from? The great state of ignorance? Or maybe stupidity? Ladies and gents, this is who’s going to protect you!

The Dell employees gave up the chance for promotion and their eligibility to take jobs that are posted internally.

3M won't offer that deal to us because there's no teeth to it. Everybody here knows promotions are a myth and internal job postings have dwindled to a trickle. We wouldn't be giving up anything they haven't already stolen from us.

Boo hoo many of us never got the privilege or net income benefit to WFH. See ya in the office.

Half of Dell employees rejected RTO and give up promotion. They probably see more value to work at home at relax pace rather than get that meagre increment. Perhaps 3M can also do the same to save some promotion costs.

In IT you are allowed to work remotely only if you are in India. Imagine that. If one can work remotely how can other one doing same job have to be in office.

Half my team is in Canada, and one person is in Germany.

Are they going to emigrate so that we can all be in the office together?

Bill was crystal clear about wanting to improve R&D investment returns. I'm sure he feels that researchers need to be in the labs 50+ hours per week from now on. And what's left of the MTE roles that Saint Pete didn't decimate will be expected to be in the plants and offices networking in person at times with the researchers.

Best sign that RTO is coming to an office near you: Gibbons, who clearly detests the WFH world and has been vocal about it, appears to be Browns right hand man.

Be happy you had 4 years of the good life. I guess I'll have to tape TPIR and Drew to see the final showcases.

IT is now banning posting anything as "remote distance" so that to me says they want to maybe not have such a geographically dispersed workforce. May be too late to go back though!

It's in one of BB first few interviews. He mentioned his style is he likes to be in office, even during pandemic time. I suspect the RTO mandate will come down when the company needs to boost up its productivity which is lacking now
