News has begun to filter down to the rank and file in HR that a majority of the upcoming LR actions will be initiated via AI. Email notifications will be generated and delivered via AI, with first line questions handled via AI chat. Escalations will be routed to a human.
The terrible ironies are:
- A rare real-world example of Cisco eating its own dog food with regards to AI strategy
- By utilizing AI, Cisco can extend the LR further into the HR organization who would normally need to be retained to execute the never ending layoffs in a coordinated and timely fashion
- Feeding the initial list to AI reduces the number of humans in the early notification chain, reducing the chance of leaks
There is also a perception that AI led LR will reduce the chance of workplace violence by distancing the action from a real live human being.
