Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

It’s time for Gary and Splunk to take over

Cisco folks should step aside. Splunk, AI, Big Data, …etc is the future. Gary should replace Chuck soon.

Splunk leadership would be worse than our current leadership. All they did was cut costs to prep for a Cisco sale. They do not have the experience to turn this ship around.

"But CR is a math major and sales guy"

Chuck claims a lot of things. An undergraduate math degree yet he can't compute margin or ROI . Also chuck was never, ever in any role that involved direct sales. he was always an overlay or channel guy.

Splunk was/is a SW company. Cisco is a HW company, no matter what the clowns on the ELT try to say to The Street. To think Gary can just step in and run a HW company is fantasy. A company is either a SW company or it is a HW company with almost minuscule exceptions. You can't be both and if you try to be you end up with an extremely confused, disjointed and demoralized workforce like Cisco now has.

Besides selling Splunk, two years after he became CEO, what exactly are his accomplishments that we should hand him the reigns of a company with a market cap almost 7 times larger than the company he sold and infinitely larger and more complex product portfolio?

Chances are he’ll sell Cisco in 2 years.

Cisco should be managed by networking technical person who has gone up the ladder from an engineer to VP or EVP.

Don’t get someone with Salesforce or splunk background to take over networking area.

I think Chuckles is burned out and one reason he acquired Splunk was to have Gary eventually take over. Gary seems focused on making right what's wrong with the company whereas Chuckles does not.

Really? We already know from the Sales-Forcers what it looks like when a Software Company mindset wants to manage Cisco. The Splunkers no doubt will be able to bring a new [often better] approach but there scope, scale and business model was a lot smaller than Cisco ...

And do what exactly ? Splunk is sort of orthogonal do most business units of cisco - they can monitor and pretty print the data that’s generated by cisco products. If you think cisco should just give up on all businesses and focus on splunk, well good luck making 190b market cap with that.
