Why are we focusing on AI when everybody and their mother are realizing that AI is not as easy to monetize as originally thought? We'll lose so many great people for something that might not pan out in the end.

Of course "everyone" is focusing on AI. It is actually a good thing for software engineers to get their next jobs. Almost all BUs are trying to work on "AI", and most of them came up or will come up with slides, POC, happy path demo, customer trial - that is about it.
`Enter market two years too late, when useless ELT see that there could be money to be made and there really might be something in "X-X". However, X-X is then led by other companies at that stage and not Cisco.
Just keep repeating same old BS at every opportunity (AI for example)
Buy some company involved in X-X, not necessarily the market leader
Throw new company at Dev in India and try to glue some sort of Frankenstein solution together, bolting it into other legacy products. TAC has no idea about this contraption.
Get sales to say this new cyclops with a thousand moving parts and two thousand licensing schemes will solve world peace.
Revenue expectations not met. Mass LR.
This is the problem stemming from ELT not understanding anything about tech. Other MAGNIFICENT 7 companies were built from ground up by technical people and continue to lead them. Cisco is led by sales people who do not get it, but think they do.

Are you trying to ignore step #7 ELT receive their large bonuses ?
You guys are missing the point
AI is for in house
Automate processes qualify and do our jobs
This is the real cost savings
Feed the machine MEDDPICC data and let it automate for you in time
We are consistently $#ite though … something to hang onto

The root issue here is that we do not have a competent strategic leadership team. Their idea of a strategy is the equivalent of an internet meme. Selling sizzle and not steak is a problem
It's just another boat Cisco missed. Cisco has no chance in competing in this space against the companies that have a 5-10 year head start.

AI is a bandwagon. As a company, you cannot say that your company is not doing AI, or the products, solutions and services will not incorporate/embrace AI. As to what AI exactly does, is itself immaterial. Bottom line, you have to be part of that bandwagon, and claim you are AI enabled - does not matter what that means.
Because we are Cisco !
Just like we monetised the cloud, we will succeed, no exceed , where other companies fail as we are a leader in AI , dare I say, we are AI !
The simple answer is the correct one: Cisco has no clue what to do, no strategy, and Chuck is so absentee that he phones in whatever is hot on the market news, which for the last few months has been AI.
All you have to do is ask Chuck for a clear description of how Cisco will boost revenue in the AI domain and all he has to fall back on is a few low-margin hyperscaler deployments that we won by undercutting Arista massively on price.
He has no other strategy.
