Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco has to fire recruiters

With AI/GenAI advancement in Cisco, why do they need recruiters just to communicate the rejection since hiring manager has already decided whom to onboard.
Increase the productivity of HM and recruiters by auto-sending the rejections to all applicants by not wasting time with interview and harassment

Recruiters are part full time, part contract, all I have worked with are very thorough and detailed and their work extends far beyond simple rejection letters.

I'm not sure about thorough, but then again, it was the outsourced background investigation that caused me an issue. Why the recruiter couldn't deal w/ it I don't know.

I was a previous Cisco employee who left due to an LR on one team. Came back as a contractor w/ a different team doing a similar job and then was interviewed and offered my job as an FTE. During the background check, the outsourced company could not verify that I worked previously at Cisco. I submitted Cisco's "wet signature" HR-signed verification letter of employment (VOE) and that wasn't good enough. Open a case w/ HR and they said that the issue was between me and the background check company, that they couldn't provide any info to them or allow any past employers to not be verified (yet they could see my previous employment in their HR systems!). Apparently a copy of my final paystub wasn't good enough because it didn't show my start date and I didn't have my initial paystub copy. I had to request a copy of my tax returns from my first and last years w/ Cisco because they wouldn't take my 1st year's tax return and my last year's pay stub, the documents had to be the same type of document.

The recruiter should have been able to simplify that process since it was Cisco's own previous employment that couldn't be verified. The best they were able to do was keep pushing the start date back and keep extending my current contract so that I was able to keep working in the interim while the background check agency pulled their collective head out of their a-s.

All recruiters job should be automated with GenAI and hiring manager will have opportunity to exploit and onboard candidates of their choice

For hiring managers it is easy to exploit the recruiters and opportunity to onboard candidate of their choice. All illegal and unethical things are passed on these dump recruiters from 3rd party. If one investigates all the open internal jobs, more than 90% are fake or already favorite candidate of HM are finalized. There are some HM onboarded candidates of non-matching skillsets

Recruiters not even review the resumes of internal applicants
just take order from HM to communicate the rejection....pathetic ..this has to stop ...
There should be common or centralized recruiting so that hiring manager should not have any leverage to onboard their favorities :)

Pretty sure most of the recruitment process is outsourced to a staffing company that’s “onsite” at Cisco. The 3rd party handles reqs, scheduling, offers, etc.

I don't think anyone is blaming the recruiters. Their positions are redundant if you are not hiring.

I don't think there is anything to blame the recruiters. Those high paying VP/SVP/Senior Director/Director without any vision or market sense are the real problem.

With a hiring freeze which I can only assume coming till end of the year recruiters can and should be impacted. Probably even more than 50%

Authority without accountability, recruiters can be blamed for any issues
