Is it possible to receive RSU’s just to be laid off 2 months later?

OP, given that your question was post 4 days ago, no you won't be given RSUs and LR'd 2 months later.
You'll find out if you're LR'd or not later this week (if you're in the US & Canada). Bonus info will be determined in Aug to be paid in Sept, if any. Pay raises, promotions, and RSUs come in the Sep timeframe and RSUs are awarded/price set in early Nov.
IF there's another (quiet) LR in Dec, Jan, or Feb, then yes, it's possible you'll get LR'd, but most likely they'll keep you around until the following Aug to LR you because you'll work hard all year and your RSU's (1/3 of them) won't vest until Nov '25 and it costs Cisco nothing. Why LR you in Dec, Jan, or Feb when they can get 6 more months of productive work out of you?
I got a big lump of RSU's last year that vest this Nov and it's the first time I've gotten RSU's. It's got me pretty nervous about the earnings call on Wed as I could be gone and not get to claim 1/3 of that RSU allotment when they vest in Nov. I have no idea if the dollar amount of RSUs I was awarded is big or small compared to what others get, but it was more than double what my target total year bonus is normally with an above average IPF. That means that I could sell of my 1/3 vested shares and replace my year-end bonus if we don't get one this year.
I got a 25,000 increase and was rated a top performer 4 months before the Feb LR
Yes that’s why rsu’s exist imo - no cost to company. While you’re still slaving away at your desk, you get some peanuts to keep you happy, same as the treats you give your pets, and the once they’re done with you, they get all the stock back to give to the next donkey stepping up to replace you. This is not just Cisco, it’s how the world works now… if you get lucky in the few years of slavery like them folks at Nvidia, then yay for you… if you’re like me who once m gave up opportunities at avago to stay at Cisco then let’s buy a donkey costume together
Yes!! Because the ELT knows they're getting the shares back!!
This is what happens to those folks in February. They bring forward the RSU. Those going to be vested in the next 90 days ( from April 15) will be brought forward. Assuming you got the news on 15 August, the 90 days start from October 15. So check your RSU vested date.
And managers feel less guilty booting someone later.
Yes, that is why they give them. It costs them nothing when they give you the boot before they vest.
Yes this happened to me in Feb, they just didnt vest and I lost them.
you mean like promised or deposited in your brokerage ?
if only promised they mean nothing relative to layoffs
