There are good managers and deadbeat managers. Today we will discuss the deadbeat managers within Viasat.
They operate in an illusion to appear they are engaged in various "activities" with little to no contribution.
They are disorganized, clueless, no hands-on experience or motivation, and always ask members of their team or other staffs for direction, support, or perform the work.
Viasat need to do an in-depth study to remove these deadbeat and replace them with fresh mind and energetic people.

"Nepotism for sure and also cronyism"...yeah, the recent optimization love-in at the All Hands certainly demonstrated the cronyism aspect. Seems that those charged with solving this problem have only ever worked at Viasat. But this is a problem that needs some serious ML & MLOps heavyweights recruited from outside of the current technical gene pool.
Nepotism for sure and also cronyism, lots of folks watching out for their long-time friends. It has been an ongoing problem at ViaSat, friends promoting their buddies regardless of skills, which leads to cr-ppy middle and upper management.
When the org chart looks like someone threw a bowl of wet pasta at the wall and we seasonally RIF the continuity out of the organization it's not hard to understand that most of middle/lower management are just there as placeholders.
Hey I’m one of the deadbeat managers.
This will never happen, majority of the deadbeat managers are in their position because of nepotism . Why you think they are still here are multiple rifs. They will always be protected cause they know someone or is related to an executive, in charge of a department, or know someone that knows an executive or department head.
