Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Remember when TIAA was committed to Denver and demonstrating it though remodel?

I do.

Ignore filing the roles down there which I agree will be next to impossible. If it was easy, they would be fully staffed down there already. They can’t even fill NCC positions and that should be the easiest one.

The real stupidity here is the thought that the best way to do this is to let everyone go without any knowledge transfer to the new people in the replacement roles. Just think about that for a minute. We are going to take all the roles we have here and not transition any information about what employees are doing to someone else. That by itself will dig a massive hole to try to come out of for all the people left behind in Charlotte. Who will think about leaving too when all of sudden everyone starts leaning on them to make up the slack.

@6osy+1tT6klaZ as you said "rules for thee not for me"... high ranking folks and at least one EVP working from a satellite office (supposed to be for WMs and folks directly working with participants!) versus a hub.

There is a large Colorado colleges/universities presence for the satellite offices in Boulder and whatnot but they can't rent a couple floors in DTC/Greenwood Village for us?

it is clear it was a financial move since Denver folks tend to make more money. to anyone not moving from CO to TX, I will say this - they will have a VERY VERY hard time filling our roles down there even for those younger "fresh" college kids talent pool they (both DF and CB) drooled and swooned while telling us all we'd be soon unemployed... those kids will find higher paying jobs within that area at better and more reputable companies.

TIAA leadership shooting themselves in proverbial both feet...

Are they going to close satellite offices as well? Why have they not made that announcement? Why do others get to work remotely or report to a satellite office? Why are most EC members working out of satellite offices or working remotely? There is a MD that works out of st. louis in DCX. Are people that are MD and above shielded? Rules for thee but not me? They should close all satellite offices and if they are going to force Denver folks to move to Texas.

avoid naming names and name-calling, that's what's getting removed by mods.

@2pez+1tT6klaZ Sometimes posts get deleted when they break the site rules. That's what I noticed anyway.

Lots of posts being removed. Interesting. Guess you have to agree with the mob or your comments aren’t allowed. Can’t support the decision to close Denver I guess.

Oh it’s an absurd approach. But that’s what we are doing.

That’s a great approach, if employees are not happy just fire them. That’ll get this company far.

This site is hilarious with all the strawman arguments. No one wants to go into Denver. However a lot of us would love to go into DTC or another location outside of Denver. There are plenty of places to have an office if you get out of the lease.

The majority of us also have never had any problems going into Denver. The location of the office in Denver is not great just like there are places in Dallas you wouldn’t want to have an office. There are also places if we moved to even in downtown Denver they would be significantly better. Denver has suffered due to the pandemic removing a lot of the workforce needing to go downtown. Denver has a whole is fine. It’s why we still have a huge influx of people moving here and a majority being from Texas.

That said this has been planned for years, well before supreme leader jumped on board. They are in full cost reduction mode, they are just going to do this is a way that causes us to lose a ton of knowledge and talent. Just go find a new job we have a few months before you even know if you’re eligible to transfer. Take advantage of all the things we offer for resume and interview training and move on. TIAA doesn’t care about you anymore, there is no reason to stay when that’s the mentality.

@1pog+1tT6klaZ this has nothing to do with politics you insensitive twit!
This was planned for years I’m sure. Denver is actually a lot cleaner and safer than other cities - DC, Chicago, NYC, Charlotte, and Dallas come to mind. I can walk the streets of Denver at night without fear unlike when I was in NYC, Chicago, and Charlotte.

But yeah keep on trying to spread your ignorance.

TIAA gave up on Denver as soon as the one EVP that ever spent anytime here went back to NYC and never returned years ago. It’s funny how some people mention a certain now SVP as some sort of savior. That person was never loyal to you or Denver and is part of the reason Frisco is the new place to be. Becareful who you trust as there are plenty of high level people that will always you feel good but only truly care about themselves, their ego and their bank account. This place is rotting from the inside out.

Denver is a progressive city that has gone done hill. How many crimes have happened on our doorstep in downtown? Even other companies are abandoning the downtown…this is what happens when you have a city that cares more about the criminals then they do about the citizens. Look at the difference between Frisco and Denver…..HUGE difference! Liberal agenda has ki-led Denver’s progress!
