Our rights are being chipped away a little at a time, most evident this year. Multiple layoffs, RTO, hardly any advancement opportunities, benefits issues, rumors of even more layoffs to come. L3 is the trusted disruptor right? Well, I say we workers start disrupting by way of banding together to form a union.

Don't trifle with these people. I was hired for the second shift in the early 2000s and worked the 2nd shift for years at that place. When a new supervisor decided to move me to the day shift I showed him documentation confirming I was a primary care provider for an elderly relative during the day and could not change my hours. My work was done well, I had no disciplinary actions and my attendance was perfect. My new manager told me he didn't care. When I questioned the legality of reducing my pay by 10% (I would lose the differential I was hired with) because I was HIRED for 2nd shift, they told me "too bad". I hired an attorney who informed the company in writing of this breach of my union contract. In spite of the written contract, Both the company and the union refused to comply. Then I was told in a private meeting with my manager and my union rep that "We (the company) can do what ever we want. You can sue us all you want. You will run out of money before we do. And you won't have a job."
I was forced to change my hours and my gross was reduced by 10%. My salary was reduced by $7,000. My attorney told me we did not have the time or the money to sue them and i would be better off just finding a new job. But, I didn't.
The result was that my elderly relative had to move into a nursing home. In retaliation, I was passed over for upgrade 3 times by less senior people.. They tried several times to fire me but failed because they had no cause. They tired to make me quit but I dug in like a tick. They gave me a disproportionate amount of work and I did it without fail. But I did not quit.
I stayed with that sh-t company until I was able to retire. i stayed because I didn't want to give them the satisfaction of making me quit. I stayed long enough to see my former supervisor and manager kicked to the curb in April 2024. I stayed long enough to see the look on their stupid faces when their beloved company disowned them.
Now I have a pension and an income from a great big fat 401K because I invested every penny of disposable income into my retirement.
Now I hear that Clifton will probably be closing. Well, when it does, and they bulldoze that building to the ground, I will be there. And when there is nothing but a pile of rubble where it used to be, I'm going to hop the fence and pi-s on it.
The reason for this long rant is to say one thing:
Clifton Union Local 447 CWA leadership are sc-m.
Am sitting back and finally watching what was inevitable. L3H destroying itself 😂
Trusted disruptor of peoples careers and lives.
contrary to the propaganda that you've been seeing, a union will not solve your problem. I was represented by the communications workers of America at the Clifton facility for 18 years. the union has represented workers in that building for over 60 years. the union, like many unions, is in the company's pocket. L3 Harris laid people off discriminately both in the union and in management and no one stopped them. the layoffs were not done by seniority as Union contract states but rather done by favoritism, friendships, and families. the union was complicit in these violations. the only thing a union will get you is a deduction of 3% of your gross for Union dues.
You feel it is a "right" not to be laid off, work from home, be promoted, etc....? Think again - it is a business and if it is not being well run you don't have a right to any of those things. You have a right to find a new job.
Put some evidence behind it instead of making people worry
Layoffs are confirmed for October.
The layoffs are not rumors.
