Thread regarding ViaSat Inc. layoffs

Viasat exec comp 2024 is published (Public info)

In a challenging year of staff cuts and enterprise value destruction we can review how our top execs fared. Clearly, it is best to be on the legacy - Viasat side ?!?

In fiscal '24, executive officers were paid $11M in cash salary/bonus plus another $2.6M in other non-equity compensation.

  • In a challenging year of staff cuts to present positive free cash flow to the street, how many jobs could the exec team have saved by choosing to defer executive cash payments? (I know the answer, but do they?)
  • Have they not studied other companies who have done similar in order to preserve as much of their staff as possible?
  • Did they consider their credibility gap with continuing to collect suich cash while simultaneously embarking on three RIFs plus a fourth coming?
  • Do they expect anyone to take them seriously (e.g. work disruptively, owner's mindset, etcetera) while they profit through rain or shine?

Having a sh-t ton of money is great for your ego, but you can't take it with you. I'll take good health and a clean conscious.

It is a joke and a slap in the face for employees, especially the ones that were laid off in November and during the current RIF.

Tying pay to performance is apparently not a thing at Viasat

20 million for Guru seems fair for all those selfies he takes. I'm sure we will get a couple million dollar selfies, when we all get RIFd to afford his salary. Absolutely ridiculous and disgusting.

Thanks for posting OP and thanks for the summary @xpp+1tQYPQFA.

It is pretty disgusting that MD, GG and SD are taking this level of remuneration given the state of the company not to mention the ongoing VRIF and past (and future) RIF of the staff.

Start by removing GG…he adds zero value given he is about as much use as a one-legged man at an ar-e-kicking contest

In helming the company from approximately $10bilion valuation down to $2billion valuation plus $7billion in debt, has Mark really earned $9million for his efforts this year?

Has Guru warranted $20million compensation for continuing a failed strategy and just being a hatchet man trying desperately to selfie his way into our hearts?

Does Shawn provide $2.7million worth of financial leadership with her vacuous answers in earnings calls?

As the last accountable person for ensuring Flight 1 didn't fail, did Dave really need a $3.4million payout rewarding him for his monumental fu-k up?
