Well I think at CNRL they get an option to either fly in fly out and work in camp, or live in Fort McMurray.
And yes Syncrude was really quite something back in the day… not at all any more, it’s just a site name now. Horrible to experience and go through that change of Syncrude changing into Suncor in basically every way possible even if the majority of it was for the worse. It’s basically not at even worth it anymore to live and work in Fort McMurray.
Back in “the day” Syncrude was seen as a much superior employer in Fort McMurray than was Suncor. Now it is just Suncor and CNRL. Sad.
Syncrude used to actually pay attention to these surveys and actually cared about their people, but when Suncor took over they used the high ratings to see how much Lee-way they have to make things worse. I think Suncor used these surveys at the highest levels to try and see how much room they have to make the place worse.
I’d say the ratings would probably be at all time lows if they had these surveys. As to when they will happen again, probably not while Freddie is still the CEO. When the next CEO comes he’s probably not going to make it priority #1 to boost the ratings or fix things either. But hopefully he’s not as cold-hearted and cut throat as Freddie Kruger is.
How about great place to live? The move to Fort McMurray for a great place to work and live! Let’s do both! Great places to work up there and the top two options which are almost the only 2 options up there are Suncor and Syncrude, or should we just say Suncor and Suncor! And a great place to live on top of it! Amazing… oh and let’s not forget the reason to goto Fort McMurray, to work and have a life long fun career. Let’s buy a property here to settle down and have the best place to work! Suncor!!!
