Supposedly Big A wishes to tackle faster rural deliveries. Might have seen the hole of opportunity created by Big U's creation of rural deferral that stores customers packages instead of delivering them as soon as they get them but charges the same high fee.

find a package freight company that actually wants your business and not one with their pockets so full the customer means nothing.
UPS Rural Deferral was announced by media around Fall 2023. It only took Amazon until June 2024 to have a request in for permits to place warehouse storage in "Backwoods" rural area. Guessing Amazon maybe serious about desiring rural customers. Surprised to see it here already but thankful for the potential delivery service coming.
low volume/downturn , low easy hanging fruit gone means shipper wars for corner cobwebs.
Company competition for scraps of income in poor economy. People are broke and only buying generic groceries and bare essentials.
UPS needs to end rural deferral and come up with faster rural deliveries to compete with this.
one business slowing your rural package delivery and putting it into storage and one business wants to rush rural packages to you? easy choice if price the same.
