What is the worst job family and why? I am an intern, should I join projects or engineering ? Upstream or product solutions or faculties ?

OP - the mysterious "people committee" tells you where you're going to go. It's like being in the armed forces. Your interests and preferences don't matter much. Would recommend you find another company where you at least have the appearance of having a choice in your career path. We're all miserable here.
After reading the comments it’s clear that one should avoid Uncon and global projects. That’s same advise I got from people within that organization. But unfortunately I am joining Global projects and hoping to get overseas assignments
Anywhere and everywhere in Global Projects is a circus. Avoid unless you want to be Chief Clown.
Uncon wins this competition by far. Do not go there. Don’t make yourself miserable, there are a lot of opportunities elsewhere
Why would a bright young mind from a top tier school even consider oil and gas for a career? If you don't fit that description then carry on. They tell you, you don't choose
You’ll find out…It’s not like you actually have a choice
UNcOn is the canary in the mine.
The closer you are to the money, the more secure your job will be. Upstream pays more typically but may be more competitive. Easy to find a niche in downstream and cruise for years.
Uncon is the worst business unit. Not paid for all of the time invested doing your job. Then, they will give you a bad performance because “it is very competitive”. It doesn’t worth it.
upstream and avoid uncon if you can
Avoid engineering, projects or anything in the downstream.
Meant the management committee, but regardless all a bunch of overpaid toxxers
The board
Stay out of procurement
Supply chain, what a joke.
Whichever you can gain skills in 3-5yrs that allows you to easily move on
Reservoir Engineering is the worst managed discipline with poor leadership
Upstream was best for me and Downstream the worst. Where ever you go learn what you can and leave. Don't stay. The outsourcing will continue and the attrition will as well. Exxon is no place for a young person to make a career for themselves. Again you have been warned. Be smart young one learn from our mistakes.
In what world is technology and engineering support functions????
None. Run. You've been warned.
Upstream better than downstream than support (controllers, HR). Try to join business. Support functions like technology, projects and engineering are all being outsourced to lowest cost.
