Fully remote people got an email telling them they have to be in the office one day a week. Thoughts-

RTO will continue to fail everywhere.
Stand up to these dinosaurs.
It doesn't matter where you work
Results matter
management is old and trying to again push old ideas
They obviously need another round of layoffs. They’ll do this first to see how many people will quit so they don’t have to pay them severance.
@3zjl+1tI2XeHb - Spot on!
What is the point in asking folks to come into office when - (i) the entire team you are part of is working offshore or offsite, (ii) your manager is offsite (iii) your office neighbors are members of other teams that you have no interaction with for your work.
If you want to talk to anyone in your team - use WebEx!!!
Feels like having a sub way / bus ride.
Idk about once a week but I received an email that I need to go in once a month starting in September. Guessing it is just the beginning.
Newsflash buttercups. HR admitted on an open call they are checking badge scans.
Gotta justify those real estate holdings somehow.
Which fully remote people?
It would be strange to have it come from HR with only an interim HR lead, so I'm guessing it's just a department or two?
Too many weak a$$ people managers who don't enforce policies when appropriate. On the flip side, there's the nit pickers who let their ego trump any actual common sense. It's a total $hit show. So much for Met creating a "consistent associate experience".
I need to see it to believe it. Met doesn't have it in them to enforce any effective RTO policies. The best has to be the hybrid employees with unlimited "10 Flex Days". These 10 Flex Days seem to magically renew every few months. Anything coded into Oracle? Nope. Met can't even control that. Clowns. Circus.
(upvote is for the info, not for the sad news)
Closing West Des Moines office
Haven't heard about the email, but did get a poll asking which office I was near.
Sounds like a move to encourage people to quit.
Which office? Whippany instead of 200 Park?
