If just selling Dark Fiber requires the title ‘partnership announcement’, doubt any big acquisition is in the works.
Thoughts?

he certainly seemed to be in over his head.
and yes despite all the non competes Lumen tries to shove down the rank and file when they're laid off, look who is at GTT. https://www.gtt.net/us-en/about-us/leadership/
Ed Morche, Keister, Joan Logan, and Mike Little.
i think there are others as well. guess those non-competes are only enforced against the serfs, I mean "Lumen Humans" who can't afford lawyers, huh?
"I'm more interested to see that that entails for Lumen employees. "
Were all going to be employees of Microsoft at some point.
Maybe someone on this board can help me understand how it is in Lumens best interest to continue to offer dark fiber to hyperscalers? I've seen the MRC we charge. With the ability to put a min 88 chnl system across with multiple large BW pipes that we cannot police, why does the company keep doing this?

Dark fiber discount to consumers of data, like MSFT. That's how. Dark fiber earns zero. MSFT will soon all of Lumen and thus own all of that fiber.

Lumen just put on the wedding ring with Microsoft to do Lumen workloads in Azure using MS's AI. Many companies are trying to consolidate work loads using AI. Azure is one option to do that. Lumen is offloading most the new AI hires they had just done because MS Azure provides resources to help with AI. Lumen will basically just be a non-official subsidiary of MS. Stock price appears to be artificial just ahead of Aug 6th earnings call. The shorts are waiting to grab the sells.
"...and drive AI initiatives across the organization and save tens of millions of dollars."
the release said what, $20M? this from an IT budget of what, 750M or more? i had heard FK had blown his budget to the tune of $1.5B one year
so yeah, $20M a year savings might cover Brene Brown's fees.
oh wait, where did she go? did she Dare To Leave?
The Lumen stock is soaring.

This is just timely news release to help dampen down the somber Q2 numbers release. I have heard multiple times Q2 was not good on leadership calls
Artificial Intelligence isn't going to save the company from the deficiencies of the human intelligence running the company!
They will waste millions on the move to Azure and then find out it is costing them more each year! Same thing happened to Seagate 8 years ago or so.
Why Lumen stock soared in July!
Can't wait for all the bozos here to spin this into some sort of negative. Let's face facts, people. This has been a tough turnaround but the signs that it's happening are crystal clear.
If you work in legacy business lines and are butthurt about the reduction in resources and attention, I feel for you but it's a necessary part of the larger plan. Lumen doesn't succeed by continuing with the status quo. Jeff Storey and Neel Dev fu---d this company up royally and it's been a tall order to fix it.
Next steps are selling more ILEC states at double digit EBITDA multiples, and using the cash to retire more debt. IRU deals also seem imminent which provide cash infusion. EBITDA bottoms and starts growing. Free cash flow starts increasing due to growth in enterprise and reduction in capex spend. Debt ratings improve, and the equity becomes free to be fairly valued. It won't be immediate and it won't be without hiccups but the signs are emerging for anyone who cares to pay attention.
In the meantime, continue pi----g and moaning. I find it quite amusing.
What jumped out to me was this quote: "Microsoft Azure to further accelerate Lumen's enterprise-wide digital transformation and drive AI initiatives across the organization and save tens of millions of dollars."
I'm more interested to see that that entails for Lumen employees.
Let’s hope they buy this dumpster fire. Might be the only saving chance we have
