Thread regarding UPS layoffs

Will todays worst earnings day ever mean layoffs later?

2 fixable problems exist that are easily remedied to increase profits.

  • Rural Deferral -is storing and holding packages until it is convenient for company but still charging rural customers a premium price with no discount. So, customers are leaving.
  • Management in order to meet numbers and get paid bonuses/stock options, etc. buys the cheapest repair parts. These junk parts do not even last long enough to roll vehicles out the door sometimes and the one's that make it shortly breakdown and a wrecker gets called . No care or thought given to longevity of reliable parts for the company's future. Priority is fudge numbers get stock options.

just another business that got involved in the world's politics and followed wrong unblessed agendas instead of staying with what it was good at...delivering packages.

Operation's/fleet maintenance/automotive are all hands on jobs. Yet some hired to manage have no clue or experience. Big business hands them unachievable budget goals tied directly to their pay/perc's. Magical numbers appear.

Forget boots on the ground. Some areas have 1-2 bottom managers for more than one state to cover and those tell the night shift fleet workers not to call after midnight even though workers are there until morning. Managers working by computer from home is not working.

A ship captain who only receives information from those (management) in position to tweet numbers has no true information to make a correction. Boots on the ground with your own eyes is never in the playbook because one may get sweaty or uncomfortable.

Layoffs are the go to option for the current leadership. Problem is the company is being gutted/hollowed out and is becoming an empty shell that will at some point implode.

Because of this the actual value of the stock will be $50 to $75 dollars a share in the near future if things continue this way. Outside investors are not getting the whole story but the truth will come out eventually.

Large Corporations also pay huge amounts to leadership who find lost revenue vacuums just like those mentioned. Confirmation will only come by talking to those who work on the vehicles and never by those in management who are paid by forged numbers.

Why does this matter now more than it mattered 10 years ago?

New vehicles from the factory are cheaper quality than 10 years ago and fail faster. When out of warranty the $50.00 hr. shop person warns manager but installs the Bonus Fetcher(Cheap) Part that cost $10,00 by request of a manager. Part quickly fails. Driver cannot deliver packages. Second driver brings empty truck{$50.00 hr. x2) and helps reload new truck. Wrecker comes to pick up lame/broke down truck(under $1000.00) to haul to shop. Driver loses confidence in having a safe reliable truck so goes slower. Liability insurance goes higher. Cause: Bonus important . Effect: Huge revenue lost.

They have a central parts warehouse that carries some stuff. Workers have put in multiple complaints of poor quality cheap parts but what matters is getting paid that stock option. Upper managements numbers quota is tied into lower managements expense numbers.

Wreckers can cost about $800.00 to pick up a loaded commercial truck just in town but if you are trying to make numbers for that quarters bonus the bill is paid on next quarter for wrecker.
