Layoffs tomorrow? Part 2

2 weeks ago I created a post with the title "Layoffs tomorrow?", and I never followed up. Yes, I got laid off! Here is how it went down for me: My usual weekly meeting between me and my manager got moved to Wednesday (which happens sometimes). I checked the invite, and it was just me and my manager, no HR. And I even checked my you usual HR reps calendar, and they weren't busy at that time. But I got on the meeting, and there was an HR person I didn't know as well as my manager. They were very sympathetic and nice. They asked me to stick around and cross train for an extra few weeks, and gave me my full severance (one week per year, rounding up).

"define extra few weeks"

It boiled down to 4 1/2. Apparently your last day has to do with the start day for your offshore replacement. But all my transitions are going to my US coworkers, I'm not talking to anyone in India directly.
