Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Pulse Survey

Be very careful, they are not looking for feedback on dynamic working. They can track each survey under department and manager. Another layoff is planned and the priority is returning to work, not work from home. The bad apples will be marked. You have been warned, this comes straight from Abby. Abby would rather have a rep who takes 3 calls per hour and returns to work rather than someone who takes 6 calls per hour and never leaves the house. Abby is banking on being able to replace “bad apples” with newer reps at a cheaper cost due to inflation.

I’ve done it before and lived to tell the tale.
We will see this what happens.

I'm not going to go into details. They'll find me out.

I'll say this: Do not fill out the Pulse Survey if you plan on blasting them with very low scores, like ones or twos.

DON'T DO IT.

I have been consistently candid for almost two decades and have never been penalized, really the opposite, it has helped me progress. Every manager and leader I know is giving extremely candid feedback and encouraging others to do the same. They have also repeatedly shared it does not reflect poorly on your manager or business group.

I would not recommend taking the survey. The survey is not there to help you. Neither is HR. I have no problem with dynamic working, but DO NOT be honest with them on surveys. They don’t want your honesty. They want your unwavering compliance. The culture here is not free will. Is crushing control.

I am glad I will be (voluntarily, they claim) leaving the company by Dec 31. (My remote exception is not extended.)

Maybe you are right on outsourcing. Jobs for under management level are slim pickings but plentiful above.

While I agree that we can't change anyones mind, an attitude like this will perpetuate any dysfunction in society. No change will ever happen for the best if everyone is scared. Change requires courage.

Many moons ago (in the early aughts), I worked in a smallish department and even back then there was unrest amongst the ranks due to not backfilling when people left. Ultimately, the reason was that the role was eventually sent to India. Anyway, we got together and conspired to give the lowest rating to every question on the survey. You know what that got us? More work. We were gathered together to go over the results, and boy was that awkward. The boss (who was actually a very nice man), had US come up with ideas for ways to improve and we then had new tasks to be added to our daily work. The next time we gave all questions the highest rating. We learned our lesson. Beware what you ask for.

Please stop scaring people into not taking the survey. Seems you’re in a role that doesn’t want to be canned for too much negative feedback (HR? Manager?)
This doesn’t happen. It is our one chance to speak up. They will still see it and know how unhappy everyone is, even if they tried to put a good spin on it. It’s happened plenty lately.
Why on earth would you encourage people not to do it? You would be fired if they found out. No survey participants.
I’m sure they have ways to find out who posts here. Companies have paid off glass door for such things.
