Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Dedicated team for development of cheap EV_Farley

Earlier this year, Farley stated that there has beena team with the best engineers in the world to develop cheap EVs to compete w Tesla and BYD.
Do they hire people for this project or did find the pearls in the existing Ford teams? In fact, they were proud to anounce that they hire them from Tesla, Apple, ... to say our people aren't competent enough to develop this concept...

Sorry Farley! Customers want cars they don't have to constantly replace, not CEOs who race.

There was a misguided marketing guy named Charlie. He mistakenly believed Star-Kist wanted Tunas with good taste. He was wrong.

I work with this… illustrious.. team. Not sure if a vehicle is going to come of it. They are quite disorganized and ‘iterating’ their designs over and over . They think they know everything though. I’ll give them an A for bravado. I think, just like useless consultants, they’ve sold the emperor a new robe

There is a change in direction coming regarding the prescribed transportation. We are going from Just Battery (JB) to Diesel Juiced Transportation (DJT).

Everybody who has brought a cheap EV to market has discovered that this is a small market with lots of players already in that space... So it's a tough place to be, let alone break into. Here's a short list of what's being sold out there already. By the way cheap with poor battery chemistry is equivalent to a class action looking for a place to happen.

Renault 5, ZOE and Twingo something
Fiat 500e
Chinese owned MG 4
Citroen EC 4
Peugeot E-208
Mini Electric
Nissan Leaf
BYD Dolphin
eGo eWave X
Smart EQ for two...
Dacia Spring

Asia and China in particular have gobs more. Something else to consider as a market threat is what alliances with US based OEMs could bring these in tariff free considering emissions isn't really a development barrier in e-drives. FMVSS is the gate keeper.

Then there is the power grid can't do it anyway argument but I digress. Not to mention e-bikes are banned from many apartment buildings in Europe because, well, it's a flaming hot topic.

A low cost commuter hybrid that could live comfortably on a level 1 charger could be a flip the script phenom though.

Sorry Farley. Developing a cheap is EV is as easy as buying a BYD and copying it. This skunk works team is bull sh-t. It’s the material costs of the batteries. CHINA owns their supply chains for raw materials and is state subsidized. No one in the world can compete in that cost arena.

Ford will do what the globalists instruct them to do to further their agenda.

When it comes to anything other than trucks, Ford is a follower and will never lead in the other categories of vehicles.

Ford is too late to the EV game.

Ford is about 4 years too late to the game. China already have the low cost EV selling for less than $20,000 in Mexico now. Tesla will have by next summer. Ford is putting a team together and try to figure out how to make it? WTF. Ford will have the low cost EV in 4 years.

Was once told by a manager that many in HR think they’ll strike gold by hiring from the outside but ignore that it may be the company’s own processes and procedures stifling new ideas.
