You really cannot count on severance like the old days. They can outsource you and if you refuse you become ineligible for unemployment and they avoid severance like they just did with 40% of IT using Accenture. Don't look for early retirement offers ever again.

How do you ask to be laid off? If there are layoffs, I would volunteer. I have 19 years >>>so 19 weeks of severance would be great!

L3harris is still hiring college grads. I’ve just accepted an offer at FL. Should I be worried?

After reading the posts on this site and the reviews on Glassdoor, why would you accept a position at L3Harris?
Sounds like insanity to me.

I bet none of you have been paying attention to the elephant in the room. Those layoffs in October of 2023 and April of 2024 were NOT random. They weren't based on performance, age or pay scale either. Take a very close look at the demographics. Take a good look at what this woke company has done to pacify their internal activists. Take very close look at which group was disproportionately laid off. That's right. There it is. B ut n one of you will say it because none of you has the ba--s.

I feel ya. I’m in the same boat and working/waiting for severance + 4 weeks from a RIF without a WARN notice and penalty to L3Harris, because that’s how they roll. All the “jump ship now” comments are living beyond their means and are just scared they put themselves in the position they’re in. When you have no debt or responsibility you have them by the ba--s……talking to you gen z, don’t fall for the instagram pictures brainwashing you into the trap gen x fell for. If you’re having kids, not following politics, financial news or the climate you’re a mo--n.

The financial target has been announced: $1 Billion. The April 11th layoffs is merely a fraction of that target. As of March 2024 - L3Harris Technologies had debt of US$13.4b, up from US$8.82b in one year (Source: https://nz.finance.yahoo.com/news/l3harris-technologies-nyse-lhx-using-140010130.html). Another report has the debt at US$13.7b. That is approximately US$4.5b-$5b worth of debt accrued in one (1) year. Divestments and layoffs are a sure way to bring down the debt. Can't win contracts? Well, you can always sue. (https://washingtontechnology.com/contracts/2024/01/l3harris-takes-fight-500m-contract-court/393742/) ["GAO didn’t find the solicitation to be ambiguous and found L3Harris’ interpretation of the solicitation to be flawed."] Here's another one for the selloffs (https://breakingdefense.com/2024/04/l3harris-selloffs-hampered-by-low-bids-ceo-says/). So much for the Trusted Disruptor or whatever the Walmart slogan is. - If I were you, get out.

I retired 15 months before the April 11th layoffs. I was criticized for taking an early retirement. the ones that criticized me, have mostly been laid off. There is nothing more gratifying than leaving at a time of your own choosing.

I used to think that the worst thing that could happen was getting laid off...

And the second worst thing would be NOT getting laid off.

I managed to get out on my own terms.
