Thread regarding Wayfair Inc. layoffs

How realistic is it?

The overall chatter seems less and less this time around compared to prior rumor RIFs. There are significantly less corroboration stories… significantly less “this is really happening” feels. So what do we really think?

This one is different, its geared towards customer service agents and the previous layoffs were focused on C-suite employees. They tend to have more insider knowledge about the layoffs and tbh they couldnt care less about the customer service agents, so theres less talk online. Friday will be a bloodbath for customer service, these people have lives and families to support and my heart goes out to them. Upper managements goal is cheap labor in customer service and their way of achieving this is low cost customer service offshore.

Most definitely due to the fact it’s frontline and not some more important department. It seems the chatter only matters when it’s not the bottom of the barrel teams like us. Which is fine if that’s the case. We are tired, we are emotionally drained, and there is absolutely zero reasons anyone working a retail customer service job should be this stressed for months. Most of us have seen the signs and we have been preparing for this. With all the clean up we do to fix orders touched by the Jamaican team we welcome a break. Let them be someone else’s problem.

I think it’s just frontline and few teams. But tbh, I wanna be riffed.
