It’s official! Layoffs are happening

Jr Exec here and I can tell you to brace for the inevitable because come Friday, most will be looking for a new job and that will include me. The offshore team (there are three) will taking the majority of the jobs while some in the US will be here in key positions for support. I’m unable to go into detail, but you get the gist of what’s about to happen. They don’t care because it’s profit driven and not employee based feelings that matter

He did not lie. The layoffs between today and tomorrow are being kept from the public and media so Wayfair does not have to pay severance pay. Anything at Wayfair that does not have to be on phones is getting paid off and taking the jobs overseas to Jamaica, India, and Turkey.

This persons title has exactly zero to do with the rumored layoff as they are by far not the only person speaking about it. If something this small gives you pause that this may not happen, you may want to rethink that quickly. We may find out tomorrow or 6/28. I just wouldn’t discredit the information based solely in a title. FYI when Wayfair posts jobs of this caliber they aren’t listed as L5-L6 they put it in terms everyone understands, because people externally do apply. Right now there is a job posting for a senior executive. No rank listed.

Digital is used to refer to that chat and text agents as well as flex agents. They are customer service reps, typically skill 3.

I am in Digital! Customer service via chat and sms. Execute. JSL (offshore Jamaica team) took over our jobs, pretty much and we have been forced to phones most days.

An L4 has told me of rumours about removing Wayfair from selling in the Germany market. I can’t think they will close the Berlin office though, so many global teams.

Some of us have been here long enough to have survived quite a few layoffs and regardless of the title listed on this, this “rumor ” has been around for the last few months long before this specific thread. The past experiences right before they did lay off were the exact same people doubting it and it still happened. Believe it or don’t. Hate the fact we have some form of warning for them or love it. We will all know the truth, the details and the impact come 6/21 or even 6/28.

The company should offer voluntary departure with a solid package in a few iterations throughout the year. A solid financial package would alleviate the anxiety about what comes next and make such a decision easier. Those who stay are likely more motivated and dedicated, which can increase productivity and morale. It would also show concern for employees' well-being, which can improve the company's image and trust among the remaining employees. It could also reduce costs associated with layoffs, such as legal disputes.

A coworker went into a rant about potential layoffs for June 28, 2024, where he got this information I have no idea. He piqued my interest -that is why I am reading this thread, but to be honest as an employee, I don’t like even knowing this rumor. Coupled with a job that requires my attention and the need for me to be in my most intelligent part of my mind- so I can do my job efficiently - the fear inducing news is really igniting my amygdala. I really hate fear inducing rumors. I wish there was a better system of information regarding layoffs so that we would not be subjected to this kind stirring up a crisis for a lot of hardworking people. It feels unfair and thoughtless as per the attack on our nervous system. We deal with a lot and now this…

I have to agree with the junior exec title. That gave me red flags from the beginning maybe there will be some layoffs on Friday or maybe on the 28th but they have a lot of overtime right now. And there are red flags to me with that Junior exec title what does that even mean? Maybe this may seem farfetched but is this management or something going in there and trying to get a stressed out so we sc--w up our metrics the last couple weeks of the quarter you never know. They do not like to pay us bonuses.

I am sure we will see more layoffs down the line, but this just seems like nonsense fearmongering. There is no “jr exec” title at wayfair. There is no way to be able to big biggest layoff yet, the overseas aren’t set up to fully replace us right now. Some departments sure, but they can’t fully replace most of NA as is. No doubt the company will do what’s best for them and put profits over people, but they aren’t complete mo--ns. Have they made, and will keep making, d-mb decisions. Yes. However, you don’t build this big of a company by being a complete id--t. I get everyone is scared and most likely a year-four down the line when AI really ramps up we will be fully wiped out in NA, but not right now

Any additional context? Departments, levels, numbers etc? "Majority of jobs" is very broad and what's described is roughly 2/3 of corporate. It would be the biggest yet by almost double.
