Just turned 55 and decided to retire after 25 years. Six years salaried. Enjoyed my time working for ExxonMobil until COVID. I know the COVID layoffs exposed the bad parts of the ranking system. Hopefully corporate sees this and will make things more transparent for rankings and work opportunities. I think ExxonMobil has some best talent working for it. I hope it will become a great company to work for again.

I went at 55 and 10 months in I am loving it!! I wish you the very best in retirement and enjoy living to spend time with friends, family, lived ones and making tons of amazing memories. The only day you can guarantee is yesterday and you can't but back time!

I gave up on the ranking system after trying to set up my next role (problematic in itself that that's necessary) and being told if you have any rankings below X in your viewable history we won't take you. Too much is dependent on luck. Get a couple bad (not aggressive or prepared enough in tank mtga) bosses in a low impact business unit and now my potential is sc--wed permanently. It's honestly pushed me to take my skills elsewhere so I can have a 'fresh potential assessment'. What a joke.
55 is the right time to go. Enjoy and make the most of your next chapter!
