Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Feeling pessimistic and down

I am feeling pessimistic and down that I might let my family down and potentially uproot if get out of town job.

I have survived a few rifs already but writing seems to be on the wall on potential job loss. Some folks comments here are optimistic on getting fired but I have been applying on side and market is really bad hardly any interviews and when you interview get ghosted. Best of luck to everyone trying to stay positive and not have anxiety attacks thinking I might have to sell home to move and or survive

Unemployment is horrible, and most states calculate the RIF payout into days or weeks paid at past salary when working, and do not start paying until that time has elapsed.

Wow. It's you they are actively looking to get rid of. Why wait any longer to hit Rica coast and enjoy the stress free life? For every one day you stay at Lumen that's one day you'll never get back, and it's obvious your time at Lumen is not any enjoyable work time. What a miserable way to waste valuable time.

They are to busy RIFing people who actually worked and stepped up to get things done and to the finish line. And are keeping people who do bare minimum around. Almost as if it’s by design to make things fail that is the only logic other than sheer incompetence by decisions makers

My exit strategy is to retire internationally in Costa Rica or any other South American country if laid off as being 58 find it hard to imagine that I will get another job or have energy in me to start from scratch. I haven’t looked at my resume in 27 years.
Till my number is up, just pop the blue pill everyday and enjoy my time with the misses on company time and get paid for it.

It is rough out here. Family depending on me and feeling uncertain. Best of luck to you and your family as well. I'm holding out as long as possible while this job market is the way it is.

To all those posting on here. I was Rif'd in April still out of work. Been on 2 interviews. Put out over 900 applications/resumes. Have had some potentials, but then ghosted. Now as others have mentioned driving Uber and Lyft, just to make money. Unemployment doesn't pay squat why file. May want to start looking for a new line of work. I have started applying at places I didn't think I would. Just for $$. Good luck.

Head up! If we lose our jobs it should not be a let down. That's out of our hands. Yes the company is tanking. We can only ride this out or move on. Regardless of what happens don't beat yourself up. I was looking for a job when I found this one 19 years ago. That is how I look at it. I've spend half my life here but I refuse to think their is no way out. God will open doors. Keep your head up.

Yes Q3 my intent was pipeline outlook. I have to be careful how I state it for board rules reasons. Basically outlook or lack thereof is ripe for layoffs

I wonder if insiders also know as out stock is landing back to a dollar

“How would you know what Q3 is when Lumen is not in Q3 yet?“

Sales can take weeks if not months to close, if you know what’s in the pipeline you can take a guess as to how things are going.

"...and heard that qtr 2 was not good as we saw and qtr 3 is off to a slow start"

Doesnt Q2 run until the end of June?

you can be a top performer, have great reviews, it doesn't matter. Market is bad, companies are looking to hire at below market rates, and they can afford to. Driving Uber might be the way to go..

Remember, hiring su-ks in the summer. It picks up a bit in Sept and Oct...then dies again for the holidays. Most hiring is done from January to April.

Thanks all appreciated. Up all night coming up with backup plans even doing Uber and Uber eats delivery if I lose job and awhile to get back on feet. My recent airport Uber was also a former director doing this until finds job.

I am in touch with a few recruiters and thankfully I have held high positions with hands on skills and not a slacker worker. Always had high performance reviews. The issue they told me is so many people out of work and he has seen nothing like this each job has 2-300 applicants. I did get to final 3 in a few and was told nothing wrong or anything I did just that there is a very strong pool of candidates in competition. So yeah so far good enough to get in final quadrants of interviews just lose out at the end stage to competition. But have to trust gods plan on where to end

Hang on until you get rif and apply for unemployment, the job market IS that bad. I've been trying to find something good for 3 years now since I got laid off. Hold onto your house too, the housing market is even worse!

one thing is for sure, Lumen really doesn't care about the well being of "Lumen humans" unless they check boxes for DEI, Etc. Doesn't really seem to matter what skill sets anyone brings to the table, it really doesn't.

Keep your head up we were all in the same boat when we were let go In the first RIF. First thing we noticed was how much we were underpaid there. Two of the guys i worked with one almost double his income another more than doubled I’ve almost tripled mine. They found positions in other fields other than telecom I went back to oil and gas. Look at getting a head hunter and get out of that stagnant he-l hole
