People whose skill set are in demand leave because of layoffs and health of a company. Ask me how I know. Also ask me if the grass is always greener. Not in this industry. Find a good team and be glad once you are there. In both smaller and larger companies, team is a huge factor in job satisfaction. More than having a bit more disposable income or PTO. I just hope upper management can get their cr-p together. My job is basically fixing the mistakes of upper management no matter where I go and it's getting old.
Medtronic is doing another round of layoffs, but leadership is still pushing projects. Our leaders are scrambling to stay relevant.
Headline could also be Layoffs are a sign of poor management.
From an article I read in LinkedIn from Fortune: "Research shows that layoffs do little to improve a company's fortunes. On the contrary, they reduce remaining employees' morale, commitment, productivity, and trust."
I also believe that layoffs reduce product quality. Medtronic is burning away their reputation and goodwill quickly. It's a big company that will take a long time to fail, but fail it will.
