Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Officially have moved on from Scwhwab

It feels good to have accepted an offer after spending 8 months out of a job because of Schwab's poor management. I used to love CS pre-pandemic, I felt valued and genuinely enjoyed going to the office and working on the projects. If anything, I still love many of the Schwabbies that I worked with knowing that they had no choice in the layoffs or were part of layoffs. Those last couple of years it just became a downhill toxic workplace, which I didn't even realize till the day I was laid off how great it was to not worry about it. To not be pinged 5 times a day to solve someone's issue, or to reach out to 8 different people not to get an answer on something, project managers that can write stories, managers with their heads up the principal's a-s, and constantly being pulled into meetings that added no value. I feel bad for people who still work at CS because it sounds like it's only gotten more toxic. Near the end at Schwab, I stopped caring because my mental health declined, and yeah I became a poor performer even though I had gotten Exceeds the year before, it sapped the life out of me. I'm sure a lot of people will have different takes here but the strain Schwab caused just ending almost ten years of work and livelihood, especially while having a family and trying not to sink into depression. Every day applying to 10+ jobs, 3+ coding problems, and hoping on interviews with complete strangers to never even get a response back. It su-ked and it su-ks for those still affected by the layoffs and soon-to-be more layoffs. Meanwhile, a couple of months ago I got a vote by proxy shareholders ballot that I'm supposed to vote Yes to increase the EC's salary, you gotta be kidding me. Those di--o heads don't deserve the work yall workers below middle management are doing and that goes for the contractors too. It sickens me every time I check the Salaries page and see Walt's 23 million salary (oh no he took a 2% reduction :^) wow) when they knowingly axed 2.5k+ people and uprooted their lives due to their mismanagement. I wish all Schwabbies the best, I am happy to be moving on with my life, and I will be moving my funds out of the Firm and or liquidating accounts. I will definitely be owning my tomorrow without Schwab and Schwab can maybe own its tomorrow with those sub-optimal bonds. Your's truly not an Automatron.

Congratulations! This post is spot on. I know I will feel the same when I find something. I have to sell my house now so that’s how I’m owning my tomorrow! That’s what you get for being a consistently high performer! What a joke.

Laid off not landed anything yet. I hope I could put such message soon OP. Congratulations.

Please seek out assistance here or elsewhere. Being out for eight months might mean that there’s a specific issue with how your CV is being processed or similar.

All the money that Walt and ec made is not gonna matter if schwab goes down. Why do I get the feeling schwabs going downtown.

Congratulations! That sounds wonderful! I too was laid off 8 months ago and I’ve never been happier. I do not miss the constant problems, lack of people who care enough to help you from their little kingdoms, or the toxic shallow gene pool!

Good riddance
