Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

All you Work-From-Home cheaters … they’re coming for you next

Wells Fargo & Co. fired more than a dozen employees last month after investigating claims that they were faking work. The staffers were “discharged after review of allegations involving simulation of keyboard activity creating impression of active work.”

Devices and software to imitate employee activity, sometimes known as “mouse movers” or “mouse jigglers,” took off during the pandemic-spurred work-from-home era, with people swapping tips for using them on social-media sites Reddit and TikTok.

It’s unclear whether the employees Wells Fargo fired were allegedly faking active work from home. The finance industry was among the most aggressive in ordering workers back to the office as the pandemic waned, though Wells Fargo waited longer than rivals JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

OP is not an employee because he/she would know that software to do this cannot be installed on a Chevron device even if it could be the company would know about it very soon. Everything iswdtalled and/ or done a Chevron computer is tracked

I guess we know that majority of thelayoff.com dwellers are Boomers based on how many negative downvotes comments that say bad things about boomers have; comments that are positive about boomers and negative about the younger generation have lots of positive upvotes.

Note to upper management: if you want to know who to lay off in the next round... there're a lot of boomers hanging around here complaining.

Was MW wrapped in a giant pride flag kissing it kind of like DJT with the American flag recently. MW is the king of the panderverse!

Boomers "bully the weak"? and no others "bully the weak"? just boomers?
Wow. just wow. You need to make up a better fake story, little boy.

I'm a boomer retiree (2017) and found the younger people were all pretty good, especially the ones who had meaningful internships somewhere and didn't feel entitled. The biggest problem I had was with fellow boomers who would bully the weak, and those too close to the contractors with all their goodies, as if making a PSG27,28 salary wasn't enough money.

A big reason the older folks want back in the office is to get away from family and visit places the misses doesn't know about.

The only real reason we were back at the office was MW kept harping on what all our wasted real estate costs were. True!

Don't you guys realize by now that the generational mud-slinging is a bit invalid or no one at CVX is an individual. The Gen-Xers are 59 years old now and the Millennials are 43. Do none of those folks work in management? Is every single one of every "age-based social classification" group recently popularized on the internet and media robotically programmed at birth to act and think the same? If so, then it applies to you also. You may not be exactly like the others of your age group or care to be.

I'm pretty sure current management like MW are all boomers so not younger generations that have destroyed Chevron.

The boomer generation care about two things boot licking management and themselves. First generation to leave things worse off for the next generations.

As a retiree 2017, looks like the Company is on a downward spiral. The employees now seem to look at how to rip the Company off versus doing Productive work. With AI and Technology advances there is simply no reason to get away with being a Slacker. In the old days, your co-workers called you out. There was no reason not to. If you could not contribute then we’re going to let you go or you’re fired. You people who still have a job it’s for a reason. It’s to make the Company profitable. Not you. Now, get back too work!

I'm a boomer and retired early so I didnt have to deal with the age groups behind me that care more about ranking, promotions, office locations and how much time they can take off and be away from the office. My generation cared more about work ethic and work proficiency than the generations behind. I now dont have to deal with all the "kids" that focus more on "woke" than "work"! BTW, its the Boomers who built the company what it was a few years ago ... today, the next generations have sc--wed it all up!

We need all the boomers to retire. They sc--wed up the workplace after Reagan and still won't leave.

I think they should come after field worker smoke breaks next. Think of all the time they steal smoking their cigs?

Boomer can’t grab how to set up a teams meeting. No more office fiefdom and boomer has to actually be at home with his/her spouse and kids. What a shame.

Wells Fargo opened a bogus account for my wife a few years ago. That’s after they opened a bogus one for our joint account also. They’ve got a lot more problems than employees working from home and should probably have been shut down.

Shorter version: The Fed Gov't mandated it. (same owners)

Let 'em come - especially with a package. My real estate business is really taking off, thanks to WFH. As for mouse movers, I open a blank spreadsheet and let my 8-year old play around, sometimes open PowerPoint and let them draw pictures of dragons.

I believe Wells Fargo is the company that surreptitiously set up checking accounts for its customers without their permission?
