Was the departure abrupt or did they know it was coming?

As I stated last week, Jose was not canned and his announcement is out. He will be the Global Head of BNY Investments and Wealth.

Jose knows something we don’t (yet)
I just love how some of you think you know everything that's going on. Like I previously stated Jose already has a gig lined up. Just wait and see when his big announcement comes out in a week or 2! I'm not a fan of T or her crew, and thought he was canned. However, some of the folks that know Jose personally have advised that this was not the case and I think I'll believe them over y'all and the rumor mill.
Jose is actively applying for a new job. If he already had something lined up, he would have announced it himself instead of T announcing 'effective immediately' Bill is the new CEO.
If Jose already had something lined up, don't you think reporters at The Wall Street Journal or Bloomberg would have announced this? They have not. Stop with these lies. He was removed from the internal system.
Jose did not get a good bye farewell tour that Roger and his directs did before leaving.
I'm positive T and her loser leadership are reading these comments. Please step down. We need new leadership.
Jose was not canned. He left for an opportunity he could not pass up. Nuveen knew about it for a while and was putting their ducks in order before the announcement. We'll find out shorter where he's landed.
Jose worked at TIAA for 12 years before joining Nuveen. He joined Nuveen after TIAA acquired Nuveen. After a few years, it was announced that Jose will be the new ceo of Nuveen to replace Vijay. This was announced months/years in advance. Vijay stayed with Nuveen as an executive chairman during Jose’s first full year as CEO to help him. My guess is that Jose wasn’t scared to voice is opinion on the companies mismanagement by T. T felt threatened and decided to get rid of him.
I think T pushed him out because he saw Nuveen (and himself) as TIAA/T’s equal. It is hard to control a subsidiary when they are more powerful than the mothership
Who is the tech giant that offered to buy Nuveen?
Taken the deal by big tech giant? WTF does that mean
Nuveen should have taken the deal by the big tech giant to be their investment arm. We would at least had our jobs. Can we all vote T off the board.
T is a god awful “leader” and TIAA has been suffering greatly with her at the helm. She has zero business sense. I wonder what her predecessor thinks about the miserable job she’s doing?
Based on the fact that there was no prior announcement, my guess is that he bailed on them.
"I get to inspire people every single day, inspire them to never lose sight of our North Star, to be the best version of themself. I hope that's what people will remember me for, or my legacy".
Direct quote from T's TIME 100 award post on the Gram about herself. April 17, 2024
Honestly, I don't remember being inspired by T at TIAA... I do remember being FIRED. I think a lot of Associates might have had a similar recollection, I wonder if she just has those terms kind of mixed up because they rhyme? 🤔
Yesterday it was the CTO of TIAA and today it’s Nuveen’s CEO. My guess is these folks are getting pushed out, but are getting a nice pay package to keep quiet and leave on good terms. If Jose is already out of the internal systems, that’s another red flag. Remember when Roger left and people under him left? They announced it themselves and give a date a few weeks or months in advance of their last date at the company. Anyone know the financial health of TIAA? guessing that Jose will save the company a few million and pump up our numbers.
I am wondering if he got pushed out. Isn’t it weird the announcement didn’t come from him? And it happened so quickly… on teams, it looks like he’s already being removed from the system. (No org chart visible, status unknown)
