Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Since this a layoff board…

Rumor circulating in the Basin, all XTO office positions moving to Houston. You don’t want to go, kick rocks. Are they doing this?

They’ve been wanting to move everyone to Houston for years. A few of the old school engineering managers and GP mangers have been pushing back but new inexperienced replacements likely to just go along with it. So much for the go to the gemba mantra!

Seems credible, like folks are saying important stuff on the globe will move to Houston, everything else will be done in India. Milk your cash cow until you get your cards.

Move everyone to Houston and drop them in a few years.

Of course, Darren's so smart. Let's all move to Houston and enjoy the tornados in downtown, the extensive flooding in northern Houston, and don't forget about the extreme heat waves during the summer. Let's centralize everything in an area that's being destroyed by weather events. So smart Darren, so smart.

No inside info but that seems reasonable. They're really trying to centralize support. If it's just an office role, it's more likely to be filled from the support centers in another country. That concept may seem strange, but it's been proven for most jobs so they'll likely do it to your roles. Sorry to share the bad outlook.
