Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Get rid of the dividend

The shareholder dividend is a waste of money and will be the company's downfall if it is not cut massively.

Yeah we could spend more on RDN or buy HeartWare v2! And you wonder why shareholders prefer a dividend? Also MDT has $8B cash it has no idea what to do with! Cmon people, I know you’re smarter than this.

Medtronic already swings and misses with reinvested earnings, I wouldn’t trust them to provide above market growth on reinvested dividends if given the chance. Shareholders are better off taking those dividends and investing in other companies.

I'm just glad that it seems that endo R&D was untouched by layoffs. They'll need to have something in the pipeline to pull excoms heads out of their as--s.

The $5 BILLION stock buyback AND layoffs tell you all you need to know about Geoff.

Competitors are buying other companies left and right (J&J -> Shockwave, BSX -> Axonics, etc) and Medtronic is doing stock buybacks and cutting staff, brilliant move Geoff, let's see how this plays out.

The shareholder dividend is the only thing keeping this stock at current levels. Like the poster below said, Medtronic is (financially) engineering the extraordinary. Is there anything even promising in the pipeline?
