Increasing dashboard tracking

i work in a plant and there are increasingly more dashboard coming out to track the plants performance. Specifically from Stefan and Jose groups. I had thought PGibbons had wanted to reduce meetings? now there are more meetings to review such dashboards. Kind of mixed directions?

Plants are of the lowest hierarchy in the organization. Every supporting or regional functions come and leach the results to report upwards.

Plants should be production only. There's too much useless management, support management, trainers, directors, and who the he-l knows what they do staff. Stop cutting people who produce items that sell and get rid of overpaid people who pretend they work. Stop buying all this expensive tech and automated equipment. Increase work space and simplify workflow instead.

Finally, accountability at the plants!! We should shut most us plants and move production outside us. Costs will go down drastically.

Plants are not bloated. It is the regional team reporters that is bloated wfh at the comfort of their home

This is needed! The days of bloated plants and underperformance are getting exposed through these dashboards! No mixed messages here!

Peter is a man on a mission. And the mission won't be successful with a strong plan, metrics and milestones along the way, and dogged visibility and escalation of performance metrics.

This post is one more reason why Bill Brown is delighted to have Peter in his inner circle.

Go Pete Go!

Sounds like the trap of early Six Sigma days. All leaders went through Green Belt training. We all needed green belt projects that included measuring a lot of things. So much focus on measuring that no one thought about whether the project would make the division or department better or even contributed to company goals. It was like a cult. Must have project, must measure something.

Similar happening here. I work as a plant leadership and I can tell you that so much time is spent reviewing the dashboard for the plant director to report up. Things like safety metrics, quality imperatives, service otif backlog, not forgetting COGS OEE yield variances etc. So much time is spent in meetings instead of Gemba

D-mb - you can track it anyway you want to but it’s not going to increase sales or production - in short - “ you can’t polish a tu-d!”
