Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Leave

Somewhat confused on why everyone cries about 3M. Stop bi--hing and leave if you don’t like it. No one is holding you back.

Most ppl here are factory workers. Factory workers have complained about their conditions for time immemorial. Don’t want to work just complain and take smoke breaks. Send manufacturing overseas.

Agree. The only thing you as employees can control is you! So, if you are not happy, move along. Complaining here won't change things. It is like any other social media site...."Hey, got 215 like for whining like a baby, kudos for me". On the flip side, I went to Solventum, so I get to sit back and watch what will happen to 3M. Interesting for sure!

I've never seen so many sheep till I started working at 3M. People who have the ba--s to call out the bullsh-t are the intelligent ones. The ones who are talented and come up with genius inventive ideas. The babies telling people to quit are the mindless robots who just do as they're told in a thinkless obedient way. 3M white knight losers. Eat your donuts and get back to work slaves.

My job is dead end here but I am OK as the money is good with relatively relax environment. Moreover I can WFH which is the key factor why I am hanging on. Just continue quiet quit while collecting the salary till retire.

The toxic people who grumble about those willing to come here and complain about what was once a great company are themselves THE reason why this company has limped along under Inge and Mike. These are the people hooting and hollering and clapping like trained seals at Town Hall.

McKnight was right when he lamented leaders who got in the way of their innovative employees. He saw what could destroy a company is leaders who impose meaningless and even detrimental demands on employees (dashboards, anyone?).

I agree with others here that if Bill Monahan (former 3Mer and Imation CEO) had replaced Desi in 2000 instead of the ultra-toxic GE McNerney, this company would still be a champion. What a tragic waste!

Finally somebody said it just get lost if it is so bad. I am quite sure the next job all of you complainers get will be your new favorite thing to complain about. Everybody on here talks about the toxic environment at 3M well from my perspective it would get better if all the toxic people on this site would leave the company they all hate so much.

Although harsh, I agree. I wasn’t happy at 3M, was underpaid, and basically didn’t have a career growth path. So I left. I now make more money, have better work life balance, and have room to advance and grow at a company that seems to value their employees. (Full disclosure, all companies can be harsh, but some are better than others)

I would think "Quiet Quit" is better than "physically Quit". Just hang on and continue to get paid. Unless you aspire to have career progress

Hi Billy Brown Bodyguard,
It’s human nature to complain, and I imagine that for many of us, this board gives us a safe outlet to commiserate with others without repercussions. Also, sometimes just reading - not even posting- is cathartic.
Your suggestion that people ‘just quit’ isn’t necessarily realistic. People may not have other viable option or maybe they fear their skills are outdated, there are a lack of other options with comparable pay in different geographical areas, some posters are actively looking for work but haven’t found anything yet…or as one poster pointed out, “why make it easy on 3M by quitting?”…there are many reasons why people stay.

Just quiet quit all the way. Those directors and above cannot do anything about it. They will continue to collect their LTI happily.

Don't be a hero. Do your job. Collect your paycheck. Don't be outspoken. Those that draw attention to themselves are the ones that get fired. It only takes one bad move and its impossible to discern all the political under currents. Cash your paycheck. That's the winning approach. Shut up. Cash the paycheck. This is what 3M is rewarding.

I don't like my job but I am hanging on. Reason is my compensation is good, and stress level is low. I work for a large TEBG plant, and usually let the higher level directors to take the stress.

Please stop posting under the Varys name. We know it's not the original, thoughtful, analytical person. Find your own handle.

3M is ageist. It is rampant. Why is there a target on my back? Can I just do my job.

I actually feel really disgusted that I still work here. Environment sh-t is literally going to ki-l off the entire planet if they don't filter the f out of all water sources and they wonder why cancer is going rampant. Duh we did that. Maybe 3M can manufacture those filters. Jk they might have defects.

3M is corrupt. PFAS, earplugs, export violations, MV announced then terminated, multiple discrimination cases, OSHA willful violations, and so much more. Is all the bad stuff out? No. More surprises coming. Was a proud 3Mer. Now it's just a paycheck.

Why would you give them what they want? They're cutting for legal expenses based on their own failures. Let them take accountability for every action including layoffs and false termination. They're corrupt and bloated with id--ts. Weed it out glorious 3M board. Do your job?
