Chevron will not move you based on personal preference. As to whether you can move yourself, it depends. You still need to work a hybrid schedule in a Chevron hub as you mention. Denver would be your best bet. Greeley is less likely. Are we even in Colorado Springs? The business has to support the move request or it’s dead in the water. Then it goes to some HR leader type for the final sign off.

The only way Chevron will do this for you is if you are a high-pot or relative of a high-ranking manager.

Check with your HR and your boss. Chevron does a lot for family union compared to many others in Corp America, and especially if you are someone who your boss want to keep happy, they will go further. It may not happen at day one (well may never happen as well) but make sure that they know what you are looking for. We always had people who works remote even before the covid. Your biggest challenge will be tax. Finally, you will use a lot of credits to pull this off, so I hope you banked enough in your career.

Some offices are full. Or at least full on paper. If Denver is one of them you may be out of luck. If not, it does not hurt to ask.

I knew a petrotech who kept asking for a transfer to Denver but was always turned down. Finally, he applied for divinity school there and was accepted. So, they transferred him, paid his relo, and kept him on staff while he was in school. He finally graduated and became a priest and quit altogether. Nice guy.

I know people who have moved themselves, but it was either to Houston or Midland when a spouse with another company was transferred or wanted to move. Zero relocation assistance for anything that isn't a new role in company.

People did it during the pandemic but now it’s causing a problem. The Colorado offices specifically don’t have enough space and you can’t just show up there to work if your job has nothing to do with that location. And if you move somewhere and don’t go into an office, the badge tracking tool will get you in trouble. Best option is to either post for a job that is located in Colorado, or look external.

When it comes to moving yourself, the company would agree if your job is remote. If your tamemates/ stakehodlers are in Houston/San Ramon, you should be in one of those 2 and go 3 days a week to the office to interact with them. If they are not in Colorado I do not see how you would get that approved.

Check with the layoff's crowd on the layoff site. That's where I go for answers for critical work-related questions. I look up to the gossips and jokers who are concerned enough about being let go that they hang out and troll the layoffs forums, effectively sealing their own fate. That's a real intelligent, hard-working and honest group, I tell ya - you can take their word as fact and trust it.
