Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

End of KC Era, rise of PS era

Chartered semiconductor culture, something that is close to successful foundry cultures of T and U, continues to evolve in a cut throat market. It kept gf alive with money from brutal, but successful revenue machine that is GF Singapore and those old nodes where demand is still more robust than declining ASP world of only finfet node at sinking ship called Malta due to losers from IDM-world thinking and demanding work life balance and “yes” people to TC who never delivered anything. TB is still the king, and TC is alphabetically later is decision making ability.

It really doesn't matter if you have old or newer nodes, you must be differentiated otherwise you are competing on price against UMC, TSMC, etc and GF will lose that battle every time!! Differentiation is the key to survival, the SLT should have understood this from the RF business IBM gave them that was ki-ling the competition, but they ran that into the ground and now are even lagging UMC.
