Marias is like Squirrl on crack. She doesn't have the focus to run an organization of this size. On top of this, she keeps putting her cronies in VP spots who run the product lines into the ground.

This is the kind of horse hockey that takes place in an organization when your leadershit is hung like a bunch of field mouses and a $hemale is put in charge of running the show.
The good thing about the "run your race" fluff is that now the penny has dropped and they made it clear that there is no transparent career path within the Company for career growth (i.e. if I do x, y and z I will get to a, b and c). It is all up to the individual now (which also means "do not complain if you didn't make a career within BH, it's on you, certainly not on us"). Those hyper-individualizations will eventually back fire on them: if the Company motto is "find what's your own career path by yourself", then one might very well think that this wise piece of advise might not uniquely apply to positions internal to Baker Hughes but more broadly within the industry. The implied part here is that they want you to run your race "on their track" (i.e. without switching Company) and take the blame in case your race didn't bring you to where you hoped to get. However, if your Company does not propose anything and it is all up to you, some might either feel more comfortable to work for a different Company having a defined career path or else embrace this philosophy in full and decide not just the type of race but also the track (i.e. in which Company they feel its worthwhile to run their race). As Warren Buffet once said "The boat you’re in is more important than how hard you row.".
