Time to pump the brakes. I’m not staying late or working weekends. I’m going to start dragging my feet and if they want me gone they are going to pay me my severance. They can try their best to make staying painful, but they just declared war with the slack master!!! Nothing left to take, nothing left to fear…in a way it’s almost a relief, no longer caring is a weight off my back. Hope you all have a great summer, I plan on making mine quite memorable. GLTA

I have definitely thought about that, and I wholeheartedly agree with you. I guess I should clarify the "possibility" of severance is hard to walk away from when it is just so close.
Plus, based on what I have seen/heard so far, legally obligated or not, there does seem to be severance packages.
Either way, IF my mental health can handle it, I do intend to go down with my ship. I see the heart and soul that goes into our product by some amazing colleagues, so that helps to keep the daily grind tolerable to a degree. The paycheck helps too of course ;)
"I've earned that bloody severance" Unfortunately, Medtronic isn't legally required to give you a bloody severance. If Medtronic doesn't care about patients, why would they care about you and the rest of us minions.
At this point my only fear is that I won't be able to hold on until my number comes up! I know for a fact that it's only a matter of time before my site is majorly hit if not completely totaled, we were told as much about a year ago. I'm so ready to go. After a decade of watching the evolution go from "quality begins with me" to sacraficing people and quality for profits...
Regardless, I have always given it my all, only to be constantly reminded that I'm just a number, and not the kind that counts....
I've earned that bloody severance. BRING IT ON MFERS!!!!!
"Going after each other is textbook decide and conquer."
This is the basics on how to break up unions and prevent employees from organizing.
Don’t let our “leaders” turn us on each other. We didn’t ship jobs overseas, take away summer hours, 2% raises, end of year evaluations with no explanation as to how you will be judged, etc. They did this so they can get their GIANT bonuses and fly around on private planes. Going after each other is textbook decide and conquer.
Severance is 2 months with benefits and then 2 weeks for every (complete) year of service. After all that is burnt up you qualify for unemployment, I believe MN is the highest “payer” in the country. If you got axed, enjoy the paid summer off. I know it hurts but don’t stress, it will work out in the end. GLTA
Way back in the early 2000’s our areas only got 2% raises year after year blaming company numbers..I see by the comments they are still doing it. Nothing ever changes. Maybe now is the time to switch over to Boston Scientific….actually the time was about 10-12 years ago. MDT needs new leadership at the top. Nothing will change unless they change!
Oh joy, love working with people like you, NOT!
MDT has for the most part always used quiet firing. I remember showing up to an early Q1 team meeting and saying "hey, where is Ted and Sarah" only to find they'd been canned. Well, I guess we no longer need a clinical or regulatory person to get renal denervation approved!
Fake news on severance
No more severance unless your VP likes you
Severances scaled way back or kept at 2 weeks for every year of service?
Anyone heard - anyone to speculate?
This quiet quitting will just speed up moving our operations to India. This company no longer values Americans. It's all about the squeezing as much money as possible for the shareholders.
The CIO said in a Townhall that in IT 2 (missed) would be the standard rating as SHE sc--wed up with her decisions!
Of course, she would never say she sc--wed up, but that is the truth.
I wonder what they will give to people whose roles have been impacted? In one way I’m jealous of them, they are free from the abuse and tyranny, but I’m sure the narcissist CIO and her hired orcs will take advantage of them leaving and try to cover the financial gap by cutting on their packages.
I heard there are several VoCs against them. As you know, HR ELR is a cover up for MDT mistakes, but at some point, KP will get tired of her and the blood stains and she will kick her out.
By then, it’s too late to save MDT as a whole.
IT can, and most likely, will bring MDT down with all the risks and mistakes they are making.
Quiet quitters unite! It is ridiculous that you are told you can’t score a great grade on your objectives because they would have to give you a bigger raise. Cutting the average hardworking people while the Directors on up make bank.
"People need to start working their 40 hours. If they want more, then they need to give us a raise. Gone are the days of working to the bone just to receive a 2% raise and little recognition. The more we work OT, the more this company will continue to take advantage of us."
Agreed. Our manager has told everyone that you should expect a rating of 3 (meeting expectations) regardless of your level of contribution. There will a few, if any, who might get a 4 but no one will get a '5' rating. The bottom line is 2% raise for almost everyone. Why strive so hard to get a '4' rating albeit the raise is in the 5% range.
Make sure you have signed a new offer before you quit, this job market su-ks and you may be out of work for months
RE: You won't get severance, you will be quiet fired, it's the new way of things.
OK OK, you've convinced me, giving my two- week notice on Monday.
“ declared war with the slack master!!!” - this made my day, thanks for the laugh!!
You won't get severance, you will be quiet fired, it's the new way of things.
Agreed. I put in my notice this week. MDT needs to realize it's not the premier employer it once was, unfortunately it's gonna take new leadership.
