Why wait to be laid off? No job is that important. Plenty of other good companies to work for or retire early and have fun! F-k GF.

I left that place 4 years ago, and I love getting on this message board once in a while to remind myself of that great decision. At the time I gave them 4 weeks notice, as a courtesy (I was there almost 10 years). They tried to rub my nose in it and cut me loose the next day, but I had already anticipated this move. I was ready for it, and got a 4 week paid vacation before starting my new job.

Why give notice, how much notice does GF give before they lay you off, 20 minutes?
Instead of quitting, find another job and then ask to be part of layoff, maybe you can get lucky and get 3-6 months' pay and start your next job right away, getting double pay for 3-6 months would be nice. Just have to figure out when the layoff is, get that offer, align start right after the layoff date and money in the bank .......................
