Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Do we really need a VP of HR for each OU? Serious question: why can’t that function be centralized?

It takes the greatest minds in HR to plot and plan endless layoffs, a measly Director couldn’t do this.

Yup, I can confirm that many toxic, narcissistic psychopathic leaders are still around. Too many to list.

First of all, no, you don’t! (Need all those VPs)

Second of all, HR is a function that is designed to cover MDT bad leadership’s a-s*s. They will lie to you even with hard evidences available.
ER should not be called employee relations but CE- company relations. Because that is their job. Find a way for MDT to not get sued due to bad leadership practices.

I heard from someone in IT GSO that anyone that raised a complaint via VoC gets investigated by the security team
to find evidences to use against them (the employee) or to find out how to cover for the managers’ mistakes…
It’s funny that ER reports their progress and are proud to report how many leaders received ‘coaching advice’ with no behavioral change of proof they followed the coaching advice.
I would like to ask HR ER how many of the employees that raised a VoC complaint are still around - at the same position or even within MDT? And no retaliation? Ha!!! Such a lie!

I knew a number of people who raised a complaint. All of them are gone. No exception! But the toxic, narcissistic psychopathic leaders are still around.

Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone that there are VPs that don't have responsibility or decision-making authority.

Some OUs or Business Units have R&D and Manufacturing VPs with no authority either since that is done centrally. So the OU has a VP and then, for instance, manufacturing will has a special director that is the liaison to that OU.

Further Together.

No sorry, I meant Bold thinking. Bolder actions.

Yes we need them. They’re business critical. Who else is going to massage their SVP’s egos and be their yes men?

You need positions for check box degree graduates that know little and add even less value.

these roles creep in over time. they start out with a plan for sharing, or not needing the level, but SUDDENLY there is so much work and each OU/GM wants their own group of VP reports to supprot their own promotions and then the vp ranks grow and grow and grow.... but if you want to put a VP in somewhere like R&D or other true value generator, good luck.

Because GM’s “brilliant” “strategy” of breaking up the OU’s into their own businesses is about the stupidest thing for a “proven” leader could make.
