@5pcd+1shIswPA. If it makes sense everyone else would be doing it… Lemming mentality

“ The point is, don't take SAS statements at face value.“
But please do take posts by anonymous people on an inherently negative website at face value.

IT is slowly moving things offshore. All new or backfill positions have to be in Pune (with a few exceptions). They aren't laying people off and replacing them with someone in Pune, but as attrition occurs those who leave are replaced with someone offshore (if they are replaced at all), generally someone with less experience.

SAS was a pioneer of onsite medical clinics. FAANGs followed.

Forget the gender argument. If a principle is true, it's true universally. The claim is that the onsite medical clinic saves money. If this claim were true, other companies would have onsite medical clinics, too. Yet they do not.

Contrast this with another claim -- Offsite IT resources are less expensive than onshore resources. If this claim were true, companies would send work offshore. Companies commonly do this. There must be some truth to a claim when there is evidence of it being applied elsewhere. The point is, don't take SAS statements at face value.

"It is true. It may not be 70% but the data clearly shows that men do earn more than women for the same role."

The data most certainly does not show that. And the fact that you've bought the lie that it does shows a clear lack of unbiased, critical thinking skills.

"This is the same argument as "women earn 70% of what men earn for the same role". If that fallacious argument were true, every business would fire all the men and hire only women, as this would save them money."

It is true. It may not be 70% but the data clearly shows that men do earn more than women for the same role. I now work for another tech company and every year we boost up the women's pay by a certain % to level things again. The inbalance occurs because men are more aggressive than women in arguing for pay rises or negotiating their initial compensation.

The evidence is beyond doubt so when people like the previous poster make such comments it comes across as just ill-informed, or worst still, a dude with a chip on his shoulder.

I take it there is no immediate reorg planned?

That's more baloney, in my opinion. So paying the salaries for onsite doctors, nursing staff, clinic, etc. ALONG WITH paying for a benefits package is cheaper than paying for a medical benefits package for all the employees? If this were the case, every other large business would be doing this as it makes financial sense. Yet they are not.

This is the same argument as "women earn 70% of what men earn for the same role". If that fallacious argument were true, every business would fire all the men and hire only women, as this would save them money. Yet men are still employed. These are nonsense arguments.

In my opinion, the medical clinic may be more about keeping medical records private than anything else. SAS is all about image. If I have a cush job that others are a twitter for, would I spill the Emperor's medical secrets? C'mon folks, use some critical thinking skills.

This doesn't pass the smell test. But "you do you" as another poster often says.

"Didn't Dr. Goodnight frequently claim that the on-site Health Care Center actually saves him a good bit of money?"

Don't know, but maybe the savings were due to people not leaving campus for hours for appointments, and never making up the time. I know that was a general rationale for having on-site services.

Might as well ditch all of those campus perks. It's not like SAS is trying to attract new employees, it's actually trying to get them to leave.

Close the gym, pool, healthcare, cafes, let the grass grow long, maybe some of freeholders who hang around just to enjoy the perks but do fu-k all else, might finally decide it ain't worth it any more.

"Lots of others would go too, and probably will after a sale - Landscaping, Health Care, and Gym. I assume that these would be replaced by contractors."

Didn't Dr. Goodnight frequently claim that the on-site Health Care Center actually saves him a good bit of money?

Layoffs of areas that "add nothing to the bottom line" have already started happening - see what happened with Daycare. Lots of others would go too, and probably will after a sale - Landscaping, Health Care, and Gym. I assume that these would be replaced by contractors.

Maybe the next layoff should be an area that adds nothing to the bottom line.

Most of the art on campus is from the 1980s and 1990s and looks it. But you do you.

At least the Art Department produces modern work, unlike R&D.

Every floor of every building on SAS campus is full of paintings, sculptures. SAS campus has lots of art sculptures already and the Art department keeps making framed anniversary letters for employees that most don't even want. Why aren't they laying off Art department but laying off R&D staff instead? It makes no sense.

Internal Kabuki Theatre. It's a fine art.

The Art Department is safe.

People are picking on the art department because it's totally nonessential at this point and yet the people in it are still on the payroll. Anyone who doesn't see how dire the situation is here is willfully blind. Sure the billionaire can put a bunch of his own money into the company to keep it afloat but it's a losing game. No one, I repeat no one is going to invest in a company that has zero growth potential. This company is severely bloated with layers and layers of nonessential staff in many areas especially marketing. Unless and until there are job eliminations deep and wide starting with outside the U.S., I will not believe the current leaders are capable of anything but destruction.
