Thread regarding Phillips 66 layoffs

Missed Estimates

P66 missed the 2024 earnings estimate. The analyst weren’t expecting much, we couldn’t even make that. The CEO was long on excuses but short on any viable actions he plans on making to rectify the situation.
To the ELT: those footsteps you hear behind you are Elliott’s and they’re getting closer. Heh, heh, heh!!

The CEO said yesterday that everybody is fully behind BT. You could have fooled me.

It goes to show how little the ELT can actually control our fortunes for the better or worse and how bad analysts are at predicting reality. CVX, XOM, etc all had lower refining earnings too and missed estimates as well. It doesn't happen often but even little chemicals out did refining.

My thought is ELT's impacts at each company generally are neutral, although never underestimate the CEO who can sink a once great company in a few years. At least we are not yet a Sears/radio shack/blockbuster
