Chuck appeared in an in person Townhall yesterday in Westlake, and made a sweeping comment about being a workaholic, and that it is good for people to show up in the office once in a while. any thoughts on what to make of it or if he was signaling flexibility in their work from office strategy?

Yeah, 60-70% of the work is done by contractors after I show them how to do it.
Chuck did say it. He’s said it repeatedly over the years. He likes in office.
Let’s not lose perspective. RTO came after Walt praised everyone for success in the biggest merger in history and saying that we needed to right size campuses and services. Weeks after he announced a plan that had been in the works for months.
In other words, Walt lied.
Worse than that, families were disrupted, people were forced to quit and others to drive to an office to meet with their team on video because they’re in a different city.
Oh. And we gave a guy worth ten billion a 12% raise while cutting the bonus and having cola level bumps for staff. The same staff that worked their as--s off for the merger and didn’t get comp time or special bonuses.
To those saying leave or don’t complain here. Bite me. Even if I were only a customer I’d be unimpressed to livid. As a shareholder I’m disappointed.
Trust is earned over time and lost in an instant.
Yes. Yes it is Walter.
It's been said "workaholics make soulless choices."
"Chuck didn’t say that. He said it’s nice to see everyone in the office.
This site is about layoffs. You RTO whiners need to find another forum. Get over it already or fine another job."
He most certainly did.
The main reason corp exec boomers won't retire is that they have no life outside of their jobs because they were forced to go to an office the majority of their life. They've all been divorced a few times, maybe have a few hidden addictions, and have zero lives/relationships that are not connected to their title. So they won't retire and allow younger generations the upward career growth this country needs because they have nothing else.
Remote work allows people to build those relationships and lives so that they are eager to develop the next generation of leaders and retire. There would be greater career mobility, less stress, more vibrant local communities, less divorce, and just an overall better quality of life with more flexibility. Flexibility that only grows the bottom line of the company.
So I say you mandatory RTO apologizers should stop hiding behind a work title and a fabricated life with illusory "relationships" at the office and start building a real one off-campus. You'd be amazed and who knows? Maybe you would be a better speller.
Chuck smokes reefers?
Get over it already or fine another job.
Certainly everyone here will quickly fine another job. You definitely personify the best we have to offer.

If such Drama is going on for cut cost
from Tech side Is can say 60-70% of IT work is handled by Contractor .
If contractor is H1b and Indian service.
Why not just ask them to handle thing from India rather then keeping there Menos there.
- They have work from home Infra
- They can work, they have shown the capability
- H1b of schwab can be pushed inside once of service company (anyways they have jumped branch from Indian service to Schwab)
- This would save money for schwab
They trotted out the 86 year old founder of the company just to tow the company RTO line? Wow. That’s pathetic beyond words.
This person Schwabs!
They just need to go full RTO until enough people resign, then revert back to Hyderabad at that point.
FTFY
They just need to go full RTO until enough people resign, then revert back to Hybrid at that point.
Why do billionaires like Chuck and Elon expect us to live at the office? You own the business and make billions not us. We want time within our families and are not workaholics
They are getting so much backlash they had to call Chuck in to make it look like his idea
It was show every day. Because we are still in 1967.
Like other clown halls it was scripted enough to plant the flag for five day RTO.
Initially mentioned “once in a while” then to “most of the week” and indicated preference for 5 days. I think initial references of hybrid were due to the current situation. I interpreted as the firm trotting out Chuck as being where full RTO is coming from and a signal of what’s to come.
Someone else said he said to show up everyday. Did he say it’s good to show up everyday or once in a while?
