Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

So how’s it going with the badge tracking?

Has anyone be let go because they haven’t badged in 3 days a week?

I heard it’s called getting The ROD

They are starting at the bottom, weeding out the worst offenders. They will work their way up the list.

How does this badge tracking work? Hearing some groups are held accountable to show up 2 days/week but others 3 days/ week

It's working. Have you seen the lines at the cafe? People who were not complying have gotten records of discussion. Trust me, you don't want to be on that list. Also, don't ruin the hybrid for the rest of us.

What are the legalities of doing this kind of tracking? Are there protections that apply outside the U.S.?

They are only going after those that average of 1 day or less over a 5 week period. It's too painful to track all the exceptions (travel, vacation, sick, one-off family issue, meeting at the Cannon, etc.). Along with the open floor mess, people are starting to take sick days when they can't get in early enough to get a workstation.

None of the C level execs are showing up to the office. And yet they are still employed...

Yeah, I’ve heard people are being let go. Contractors are taking their place.

Those with 0 days or 1 day a week in the office since the start of the year have been getting written up by HR in a “record of discussion.” Part of the ROD is the person agrees that they are expected to show up to the office by a certain date. If they don’t, I suppose they could get fired although I haven’t heard of anybody actually being let go over this yet.

There are many people who do not show up on their Friday workday, or come in late and only stay for 2-3 hours instead of the full 8 hours. All of you know who they are.

MW and HR are quietly keeping track of who isn't showing up to the office. Those people are moving up on the layoff list, when it occurs.
