Unfortunately, Lumen has descended into full cult-mode, with Kate as spiritual leader.
While we often refer to transformation, a better word is evangelization - with a nigh-on religious belief over strategy taking hold.
Most recently this was realized in the Date to Lead initiative, a mass sale of books and resources of Renee Brown's program of the same name. While cautiously received it became apparent that Dare to Lead was a bandaid for poor execution. Instead of inspiring and transforming, or operating with candor it instead instilled a inner state, akin to a government's inner workings, and ironically drifting far from the values stated.
Doubling down, Dare to Lead was the first cut, and with the initiative hours of study, meetings and other activities better spent on ops efficiency and filling the order book, the communication stopped, EOI was presented and, when failed layoffs ensued.
Why? The share price of course, but, more terrifyingly, the internal cash machine.
Why do companies pretend to have values when they're brushed aside so quickly.

We aren’t winning like he-l because we haven’t DTL. We need another wave of DTL to get us back on track. Come on Talent Management, how about another rollout?
I see Kate, with her selfies and catch phrases, as nothing more than an corporate sponsored Instagram influencer.
I see zero evidence of the Operating Principles being modeled by our leaders. It is laughable but yet I feel like crying. I actually believed it for a while.
I remember how excited everyone was that Kate was going to save us. We just needed Teamwork, Trust, Transparency. She had “our backs”. We got to participate in “forced” book studies that were horribly rolled out- no clear purpose or direction. The facilitator had no clue why they were even there and didn’t even know what was expected. Hours of awkward silence. The talk show fireside chats taught us to “rumble” because the reason we weren’t “winning like he-l” was because we weren’t willing to engage our supervisors with tough issues. We even had a chance to join KJ at a Taylor Swift concert if we came up with the winning stop list item. How about we stop paying BB/DTL millions, save some jobs, stop granting a stage for KJ to interview her celebrity “friends”, and focus on fixing our company? Seriously is the reason that we aren’t winning like he-l that we haven’t Dared to Lead? Are “we” the problem? I’m sure I’ll be riffed in the next round. Disappointing.
Kate came in to save BB through exorbitant “consulting” speaking and book fees in the millions.
I came on board as a Lumentarian. We believe fat change of keeping our jobs.
Shape shifting is the Lumen way
Too many people thought that Kate came onboard to save their future.
Kate only came onboard to save Lumen and not you.
Sorry for ruining your thoughts
it's what they do
