Although I was on the business side of things, I watched the idea of 'value streams' replace 'manufacturing' in the Advance 3M days. I never understood what they meant, and haven't thought about them for a second since I left over a year ago. But I heard someone say value stream today in a different context and I wondered if the term and the structure survived? As far as I remember it was just another way to reshuffle deck chairs and had everyone spend three years re-organizing rather than doing anything useful for customers. Also interested in whether they made a difference if they did survive the culls.

Yeah this drove me crazy. Changing titles from Mfg Mgr to LVS mgr. I still called them Mfg mgr as it made more sense to me.
area BSC now gets to enjoy flying around the world.
Lean Value Stream was a flavor of the day org. Gone now.
Value streams are still around - those are the supply chain maps showing all the touch points a product goes thru in its journey from raw material to customer.
Used to called lean value stream, but now they renamed it to busiess supply chain. But looks like there are not much difference. This group of high paid reporters are consolidating reports from various plants to report up to division.
Gibby renamed it to “BS Chain”
