This place is horrible, so many folks leaving or being forced to leave, I have never seen morale this jacked up, supervisors and managers bullying technicians to the point that I wonder when one of them is going to snap. This new culture is definitely not for lower-level employees even though they are the customer focused employees, this is the worst management chain I have ever seen in the area that I am in. I am just hoping to hold out a bit longer.

I'm not too worried, the local telco isn't going anywhere. You naysayers think we're doomed but you know nothing about the local side. Of course landlines are a thing of the past but demand for local data is only increasing. Even with competition, the local side is still in demand. Lumen may not want to be in the local business and may sell us off, fine, we've survived on our own in the past and we'll survive in the future.
"The person telling the fossils to go must be from L3. Clearly they don't work on the local telco side where we still have plenty of dinosaur equipment, where typically only the fossils are experts on. The fossils have a wealth of knowledge, losing them is not a good thing."
The local telco side with dinosaur equipment that is dying a very rapid death? Yeah, no sh-t, Sherlock. Why would a company transitioning to growth and new revenue streams dedicate resources to a business that is in steep consistent decline and clearly on the brink of death? They've been very clear that part of the business will be managed for cash (i.e. milking it with as little capital spend as possible). If you work on that side of the business, you better find some new skills or start saving up for retirement because you're not going to have a job at Lumen or anywhere else in the not too distant future.
Great-grandma isn't going to need a landline when she kicks the bucket.
"The first sentence is the only thing this person uttered that's true, the rest is unequivocally false. Our area lost some very good people and we are feeling it in spades. I keep hearing from customer after customer how the service has gotten worse."
So it isn't true that order and inventory management systems are being cut from mid to high-teens down to one each? You prefer to have a jumbled mess of systems? Is that better for the company and customers?
Your anecdotes about unhappy customers are exactly that. Funny how net promoter scores have been skyrocketing through this optimization process.
Sorry to the disgruntled folk who have been milking this company for a paycheck doing obsolete tasks under fossil CEO Jeff Storey who doesn't know his di-k from his a-s. But an automated streamlined platform simply requires fewer people running it. Times they are a changing.

From a previous post "Of course there are going to be ongoing layoffs. This company is being streamlined and cutting out the useless, inefficient fat while also modernizing the required skillset of the workforce"
The first sentence is the only thing this person uttered that's true, the rest is unequivocally false. Our area lost some very good people and we are feeling it in spades. I keep hearing from customer after customer how the service has gotten worse. Our group answers calls from several other groups(think dumping ground) and can barley get to tickets that are rightfully ours. Our managers are constantly on us and no end is in sight.
I truly wonder if the person who made that post with the above sentence is somehow a "Frank Burns" of "MASH" fame or more appropriately "FERRET FACE" You decide..
Of course there are going to be ongoing layoffs. This company is being streamlined and cutting out the useless, inefficient fat while also modernizing the required skillset of the workforce.
Cutting down the order and inventory management systems over 90% down to a single one is going to require fewer people, but let's not pretend that's a bad thing for Lumen or its customers.
Go somewhere else, fossils. I know you must have loved that senile id--t Jeff Storey because he paid you to do nothing and didn't hold you accountable, but those times are gone.
Sorry fossils, go
Persistence and determination are omnipotent.. I bet Kate doesn’t know what this means lol nor do any of her managers who are btw unqualified stupid rude little millennials that their mothers didn’t teach them any respect good luck all
A gal in a bikini. 🤦♀️🙄

If it’s so bad leave !
If you ride it out, like I did, just make sure you get your LinkedIn, resume, and other job finding sites are all updated so the moment it happens you can hit the job market running.
It probably depends what you do but riding it out isn't all bad and when you are laid off you get Cobra + very nice severance pay out! Just make sure you are prepared when it happens cause it's probably coming. I think they had like 4 lay offs in what 2-3 months now, this is the most I have ever seen in many years at the company!
You ain't wrong. Mgrs are micromanaging up my azz. If the ppl are doing the work, leave them the eff alone. 🐒
KJ is out at a Women In Power dinner, while Lumen goes down in flames
Is any of this mess like a gal in bikini popping out of a cake on 4th of July? C'mon man, the writing has been on the wall for years now. Just look at the stock price tanking back down to $1. Q2 numbers are dismal yet again. Everyone in my group are on edge not knowing exactly when the next RIF is coming but know it's coming. Jump off the sinking ship or hang onto the railing as it sinks is a personal choice.
Its funny how we dont hear anything about DTL anymore. And where's Kate?
Things just seem to be getting worse, like we're just riding it out to the end.
The only play the SLT has left is the reverse split to make things seem like they are improving...then as it gets shorted into the ground, the end will approach for all of us.
I think we have about 2 years left.
I see it too. Like you I'm holding on and see just how many RIF's I'll survive. I figure its better for me to get canned and get unemployment and/or a severance. In my opinion, getting let go from Lumen may be a badge of honor.
