Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

What sites are closing down?

So apparently there are people out there with a confirmed list of sites that are closing down (in 2025 or earlier).

I wish they would just be clear with their communication and tell us what sites these are. It is so nerve wrecking not knowing, going into office never knowing if I'll have to eventually pack up my cubicle.

Hate it here. I know know why people say Harris was better off as just Harris.

Can't see ft Wayne closing, they've sunk too much money into building out the new facilities there and said project is already around 100% over the original budget. If it was going to be cut, they'd have made that decision long ago.

I think it is correct about Fort Wayne closing The building was already ear marked to be built the money funded and contract in place. Unless we want a legal challenge, just go ahead and fulfill the contracts and build the building. It will never be staffed or equipped.

Unlike the others on this site I will tell you what I think I know. - Fort Wayne, Indiana is all but gone. The current space work will be moved to Melbourne and Palm Bay Florida. The optics work will be taken over by the experts in building 19 in Palm Bay. That is why Palm Bay is currently hiring optics engineers. The Fort Wayne back stabbers and glory grabbers will be walked to the door and you know who you are. I hope you enjoyed stealing others ideas and work then claiming it for your own, the free ride has ended. Instead of working for KSC Kennedy Space Center you will probably be working for KFC Kentucky Fried Chicken or the local hardware store. Your names are now in a blacklist at a few companies I am associated with, so good luck with your new job search, you’re gonna need it. The rest are good hard working people who I do truly hope end up ok after the dust settles.

I would point out that old-school L3 had competing business units, so customers would get proposals from 5 different L3s.

Customers did not like this.

Frank Lanza, who started L-3, didn't see the need to assimilate new acquisitions into the Borg of the company. He realized that there was a reason those companies were attractive acquisitions and he left them alone.

I think Kubasik started the ruthless assimilation even before the L3Harris merger (or whatever) and it has only accelerated.

What gets me is every process change they are making are Agile anti-patterns. Centralization of control, cross organization standardized tools, are the two biggest Agile no no. Ever since Waterman & Peters In Search of Excellence (before Agile) these business practices were known to fail. They will not yield shareholder value. Geeze guys read a f'n business book. Un-agile companies, just like the dinosaurs, die.

funny, I'm legacy L3 and we were far better off with respect to site autonomy and employee engagement etc without having to navigate the corporate hierarchy that was imposed by Harris. Maybe the problem was/is Bill Brown or Chris Kubasik and the neverending push for sweet sweet value for the shareholders.
