Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Hiring freeze but hiring interns(?)

We just fired all our honest and hard working contractors, and then I see interns and rotation interns being onboarded? I have nothing against them, I understand they need an opportunity but right now this company needs to prioritize spending, hiring, operating costs, funding to get out of this mess. We need new leadership.

TIAA hasn’t been the same company for many years. TIAA has always been behind the times. Especially with technology. I recall when TIAA first introduced a fax machine (no one knew how to use it), voice mail, email & tracking work on a computer. This was done from the early and to the late 90s.

Since 2003, TIAA experienced layoffs for the first time in TIAA’s history. They continue to lay off since then; however, they don’t lower the salaries of the executive team. They give them these outrageous salaries to sit in the town halls to look and act goofy. When is the next layoff happening? Sign me up!!

The interns were made offers last fall. We wouldn’t go back and take those away. It’s for 10 weeks.

I saw the cringe pictures and is TIAA a fortune 100 company or a high school dance. Seriously I won’t be surprised if our competition will start going after all our client with the next 6 months. I see TIAA closing shop in next few year if we continue going down this path. We are so behind the times.

Speaking of interns check out the pictures on the intranet homepage of them posing with stacks of fake cash, dollar signs, and other assorted cringe items. I mean is TIAA even a serious company anymore?

The interns are treated way better than work bees. No pizza party for them. They get fancy offside events and swag bag like upper management. To sell them how amazing it is to work at TIAA. DO NOT let the interns talk to working bees. They can’t know the truth. Run quick. This place isn’t fun.
