Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Decrypt encrypted files??

Anybody know how to decrypt the encrypted files I save off my laptop? I think I need a key to access but not sure and don’t have said key. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Bluetooth transfer files from your work computer to your personal computer. It can take a while (bluetooth transfer is slow) depending on how many files and how big the files are but it works!! At least it did for me.

Everything you do with your work computer is monitored and discoverable. I had multiple young division employees in China who announced they were leaving 3M a number of years ago. We ran forensic analysis on their network activities prior to their departure and identified copied hard drives, printed technical reports from areas they hadn’t even worked in, etc. So we introduced them to 3M attorneys who explained the consequence of their potential actions in great detail. You’re on a great path towards termination and more.

If you really just want some personal photos, email them from 3M to your personal account. Depending on the file size, you may have to do this a few times. Easy.

3M monitors its network and all company devices. Careful.

But usually there is enough time to pull off any personal things before you lose access. They don't normally just walk you out or shut off your access the day you're laid off. Was there no notice at all at your site? Because that would be a new low.

Unless you still know someone with an active 3M account/computer that you can give that USB drive (it seems that is what the files are on based on your second comment) and have them physically put it in their 3M computer then decrypt the pictures and email them to your personal email...you are going to be out of luck.

@1eiw+1sEXlWmT I just want some pictures of my kid that were left on my laptop before I could pull them off before I was laid off. You’d think after 25 years of service and generating over $400 million in new sales and new products I could have a few pictures but I guess not. Could care less about corporate espionage since I already have seen how EVERYTHING is done and all the tricks that are used to get there.

“Can I get a little help here to commit Corp espionage, k thx !”

The good stuff is all DLP encrypted anyways so nice try folks. Especially when you try to drag drop into a google drive.

If it’s encrypted is for a reason…not compliance to decrypt 3M files

This will require a Ticket to I.T. to resolve.

No idea, but if you still work there, set up an external drop box to move all your personal files.
