Has anyone heard anything about another RIF we definitely took a hit early this year after the EOI…just trying to think ahead and see how hard I should be applying to other jobs in order to prepare. The uncertainty is tough but watching/reading Lumen updates and being part of the order managing team I see that it’s not looking great. Any thoughts?

From the above statement, I leave it up to you to interpret whether or not Lumen has accomplished their headcount reduction efforts. Set your personal strategy accordingly.
Could be, our manager sent out a message to check metrics as write ups are coming. Well if not a formal RIF someone will manipulate the call queues and ticket queues in such a way we lose. What's sad is the metrics we are all subject to have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with tech. expertise or real customer service, they are measuring menial tasks and nothing more. The only silver lining to this is since its all menial tasks, its pretty easy to fake them out in our favor as bots are doing all of the data gathering, just the numbers and certainly not the meaning behind them.
not being a doomer, alot of skilled, valuable people 40 and over were riffed in the last round, I'm sure those left cleaning things up wish they were still there
Doomer. Stop scaring people. That wont apply to everyone over 45. It all depends on what you do.
The job market is total cr-p. I haven't even had a single round one interview yet.
If your young enough to land a new job, I would do it.
And if you are older, consider if retirement can happen sooner rather than later. They don't even pretend to not discriminate based on age anymore. They do.
to be sure, if you are 45 or older, you can and most likely will be replaced by someone younger, less experienced, at a lower salary. You can book it
You can bet there will be more RIFs coming, until they have closed the books on certain services they once sold. Anything that can be done by AI will result in more Luman humans being laid off. Fact, it doesn’t matter how great you are at your job, KJ and her leadership will line up employees and hand them their walking papers. Advice, even if you think your position is secure and you do a great job, with no managerial oversight required, start looking!
The "RIF coming??" post is BS sh!t stir. Lumen is and has been replacing US employees with lower talent lower cost people in India. The SLT already said this to employees. If your job can be replaced by some hard to understand person in India then you should be seeking a new job. If your job cannot be replaced by some hard to understand person in India then you should be safe. You should have enough thinking power to know if you can be replaced or not. Lumen is not doing as great as the SLT is telling everyone inside and outside the company. Share price slipping below $1.30.
Latest trends have been right before quarter end earnings call. I think it will be trend now on out as part of Lumen culture.
Your loyalty to this SLT is striking considering the current landscape, both internally and global. Every "Lumen human" should be on the self-serving, self-preserving train by now...for their family and themselves!
You should always be looking for another job.
would not shock me if it came right after the holiday weekend... KJ seems to like to do these around holidays or towards the end of a month
